OBITUARIES
EMMA L. ANDERSON
Funeral services for Miss
Emma Lorene Anderson, 78,
of Upton rd., Central Point,
who died Wednesday, will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in
Conger - Morris downtown
chapel. The Rev. Donald Krug
of the Central Point Presby
terian church will officiate.
Committal will be in Memory
Gardens Memorial Park.
Miss Anderson was born
Sept. 21, 1884, in Shickley,
Neb. She moved to Portland,
Ore., in 1908, then went to
California, where she worked
until 1944, when she retired
to live in Oregon with her
sister, Lillian Anderson, and
cousin, Bert Smith, on Upton
rd., Central Point.
Mr. Smith preceded her in
death last Saturday morning.
Miss Anderson had been a
member of the Order of East
ern Star for 50 years, and
had been affiliated with the
Presbyterian church since
moving to Central Point.
She was preceded in death
by her mother and father, Nels
and Harriet Anderson, and by
two brothers and three sis
ters. Survivors include her sis
ter, Lillian Anderson, Central
Point; another sister, Mrs.
Anna E. Roncy, Los Angeles;
and two brothers, Alfred T.
Anderson, Shickley, Neb.; and
Leonard B. Anderson, New
port, Neb.
Casket bearers will include
A. A. Heintzelman, La Rue
Morris, Donald Faber. Stan
Rumble, Scott Hamilton, and
L. G. Morthland.
The body will lie in state
at Conger-Morris Chapel un
til 8:30 o'clock tonight.
ELIZABETH A. JONES
Mrs. Elizabeth A. Jones, 83,
of 1130 West Eighth St., Med
ford, died early this morning
in a local hospital. Funeral
arrangements will be an
nounced by Perl Funeral
home.
MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD.
Mesmer, 65, of 1120 Ashland
St., died Wednesday at the
Ashland Community hospital.
Mr. Mesmer, a resident of
Ashland for the past year,
was born July 7, 1898, in
Klamath county. He had been
a switchman for the Southern
Pacific railway and was a
member of the Switchman's
Union of North America and
of BPOE 1247 of Klamath
Falls.
Survivors include his wid
ow, Helena, and two daugh
ters, Mrs. Catherine Burnett,
Eugene, and Mrs. Pauline Mit
chell, Klamath Falls.
Funeral services were held
this morning in Litwiller
Mountain View chapel. BPOE
994 officiated and cremation
followed.
Friends are asked to donate
to the heart fund.

Funeral services for Maj.
Gene C. Rae, 38, who died
Saturday of injuries suffered
in an automobile accident near
Oakland Army terminal, were
held this afternoon at the
Base Chapel, Oakland Army
terminal.
Major Rae, an Army offi
cer assigned as Procurement
officer, Oakland region, De
fense Subsistence supply cen
ter, Alameda annex, Alameda,
Calif., was born in Jasper,
Minn., Jan. 18, 1925, and
spent his childhood in Med
ford.
He entered the Army Air
Corps as an aviation cadet
1943, and during World
War II, served as a single
engine pilot.
At the end of the war he
was employed as a civilian
at the Utah General depot,
Ogden, Utah, until recalled
to active duty and assigned
to Korea in 1943.
Following his return from
Korea, he was assigned to
duty in Germany and France,
followed by the Oakland ap

Funeral arrangements were
under the direction of Godeau
Funeral home, San Francisco
Calif. Deseret Mortuary, Salt
Lake City, will be in charge
of interment which will be at
Ft. Douglas, Utah, later. " -''

Funeral services for How.
ard Lloyd Lehman, 35, of
Paradise, Calif., who died
Tuesday, will be held at 10
a.m. Saturday in Conger-Morris
downtown chapel. The
Rev. Fredrick Ross Evans of
the First Christian church
will officiate. Committal will
be in Siskiyou Memorial
park.
Mr. Lehman was born Aug.
7. 1927, in Medford. He had
been in Paradise about three
years, operating Lehman
Equipment Sales at Chlco. He
was a veteran of World War
II. He was married Oct. 28,
1946, In Medford, to Juanita
Meyer, who survives. He was
a member of the Medford
Elks Lodge.
Survivors, besides his wid
ow, include three daughters,
Nancy Lee Lehman, Dcbby
Lynne Lehman, and Karroll
Dec Lehman; four brothers,
Victor Lehman, and Richard
Lehman, Medford; Jerry Leh
man, Marysvillc, Calif., and
Jimmy Lehman, Nevada, and
a sister, Mrs. June Hopkins,
Medford.
Casket bearers will include
Mel Younger, G. T. Haupcrt,
Stewart Milne, Thomas Mc
Fadden, John Parker, and
Dean Hancline.

Porteous, 1410 Parkdale dr.,
Grants Pass, was flown to
Medford from Crescent City
Wednesday by Mercy Flights
Inc., and is at Rogue Valley
hospital. Mrs, Porteous, who
was accompanied here by her
husband, Glenn Porteous, was
injured about: 10 days ago in
an automobile accident near
Crescent City. She is the 1,
591st patient to be flown by
the non-profit air ambulance
service since it was started.
Convalescing Here - Wilbur
Jay Smith, formerly of Med
ford and now of Salem, is con
valescing at the home of his
sister-in-law, Mrs. Austin
Lewis, 1610 East Main St., fol
lowing surgery. He may have
visitors, relatives said.

Algoma potluck picnic for all
former Algoma Lumber com
pany employees and friends
will be held July 28 at the
Collier Slate park, north of
