Kennedys Caught In History Errors
: Washington flPH- A couple
of Republicans think the
Kennedy brothers should
brush up on their history.
Sen. Karl E. Mundl (R
SD ) said Monday he caught
President Kennedy In the fol
lowing historical errors In
speeches made in Germany
last week:
- -Kennedy said Boston was
the oldest city In the United
Stoles. Wrong, said Mundt,
It's St. Augustine, Fla.
-Kennedy said Gen. Custer
led 500 cavalry troops
against Sitting Bull in 1878.
Wrong again, said Mundt, It
was June 25, 1876, nd there
were only 276 soldiers,
Atty. Gen. Robert F, Ken
nedy came In for more ol the
same trectmcnt when, while
ministration's civil rignts
bill, he said Rhode Island
was Ihe ninth stale to ratify
the Constitution.
Sen. Norris Cotton H
N.H.l caunht him on that
pointing out that New Hamp
shire was the ninth st.ile.
Riinrln Island was the 13th
to ratify.
