DAV Adopts New System of Paying Dues to National
A new system has been
adopted by the Disabled
American Veterans by which
the collection of annual dues
will be handled in the future.
The custom has been for the
local, or chapter adjutants, to
collect the dues, then after re
taining the amount belonging
to the chapter, send the per
capita tax to national head
quarters. The new system
works just the opposite, local
DAV officials said.
An IBM system of automa
tion in handling of records
has been set up whereby dues
notices are sent from the rec
ords at national headquarters
to each annual member. The
member la not to pay the
chapter adjutant as has been
the system, but should mail
the dues money, and the IBM
card he has received as dues
notice to national headquar
ters. Headquarters, alter hold
ing out per capita tax for both
national and state department,
will mail the chapter' share
of the dues money to the mem
ber Involved.
The membership card Is to
be brought to the chapter ad
jutant for his signature. Mem
bers of Jackson county chap
ter are asked to act soon in
mailing dues to national head
quarters.
The local adjutant has in
his possession special decals 1
for continuous membership in
DAV to issue to 39 members
with over 23 years; 53 with
over 10 years, but less than
23, and 24 with S or more,
but less than 10 years membership.
The decals are to be attach
ed to the membership card,
and will be Issued upon pre
sentation of the card for
signature.
