Providing vacation employment for students has become a tradition In
this country. Vacation work serves a double purpose since it nor only
',( j supplies money for college expenses but gives many young people on-
;' the-job training in their chosen field. Mann's Department store hires col-
i- lege students and on the staff this summer are Anne McDuffee (at left)
t",' who will be a senior, in clothing and textiles at Oregon State university
1 next fall, and Judy Hueners, 1963 Medford High school graduate who
will enroll at the same school in September.

' valley and among these is Terry
Welburn, employed by Crater lake
orchards to irrigate an orchard in
the Anderson creek district. Terry,
son of the Donald Welburns, Hend
ricks road, will be a sophomore at
Phoenix High school in the fall.
Working as a reporter for The Mail
tribune this summer is Urbane
Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C.
Baxter, Klamath Falls, who will re
turn to his studies at Southern Ore
gon college In September. He plans
