Rogue River High
Students Honored
For Achievements
Rogue River - Graduating
seniors of Rogue River High
school were honored for
achievements at an assembly
recently.
Receiving gold cords In rec
ognition o( scholastic honors
were Becky Irwin, Beverly
Allison, Jacquclyn Nixon,
Florence Oliver, Bill Cooper
and Arlene Webb.

outstanding citizenship award
and Jack Salter, athletic
award along with a lifetime
pass for athletic events at
Rogue River.
Other awards were received
by Becky Irwin and Beverly
Allison, Underwood awards in
business and shorthand; Bev
erly Allison, Becky Irwin and
Joanne Yancey. Gregg short
hand awards, superior work
In shorthand for having sus
tained rates of more than 0
words per minute; Becky Ir
win, Crisco award for best in
homemaking.
Stat Scholarships
State scholarships were giv
en to Beverly Allison, full
tuition fee for elementary
education; Bill Cooper and
Florence Oliver, . two-thirds
fees for tuition to Southern
Oregon college; Elk Lumber
company scholarship to Becky
Irwin and honors at entrance
to Lewis and Clark college.
Bob Ralgosa received a cer
tificate of achievement from
Veterans of Foreign Wars for
his speech given in the Voice
of Democracy program.
A freshman, Judy Badley,
received a $3 certificate for
her black and white poster
entered in the Knights of
Pythias poster contest.
Classes ended at the Rogue
River schools Friday and
teachers' work day will be
Monday,' May 27. Students
will receive report cards, turn
In books and school property
Tuesday, May 28. Bus sched
ules will be as usual that
morning, with the return trip
at 10:30 a.m., school officials
said.
Warning Issued
On Liquidators
Bulletins advertising mer
chandise from bankruptcies,
liquidations and esteies, Hood
ing thli area' through the
malls, has drawn a warning
from Don MoMeil, manager of
the Medford Chamber of
Commerce.
The warning dealt specific
ally with "Allied Liquidators,
Los Angeles,' and "Federal
Liquidators, 1920 North High
land ave., Los Angeles," he
said.
With a Warning from the
Portland Better Business Bu
reau, McNeil pointed out that
Allied Liquidators and Fed
, eral Liquidators are appar
ently companion firms with a
Larry Stein associated with
both.
The form . letter reaching
Portland claims the company
Is to liquidate 1,720 six tran
sistor radios.' The list' price
for this item is quoted as
$4 1 .50 with a liquidation price
of $13. Also offered are some
947 portable tape recorders,
listed at $69.50 with a liqui
dation price of $26.50.
The Los Angeles Better
Business Bureau reports that
it has been Informed by an
International Mail Order and
Exporling.lrnpqrt firm that
the Items are landed in this
country duty paid, insurance
paid, freight paid for approxi
mately $8.87. Yet in the Al
lied Liquidators brochure that
advertise this $15 price as
"below manufacturer's orig
inal cost."
Day Camp Activities
Are Being Planned
The YMCA Day Camp on
the Applrgatc near Tlucli will
be the scene of planned ac
tivities from June 17 through
July 6.
There will be three one
week periods of Day ('.min
ing arranged during that time,
and the program for first and
second grade boys In now
well under wav. according to
the Mcdtord. YMCA. . ,
From Monday through
Thursday of each week the
boys will camp out during the
daylight hours. On Friday,
night encampments will be
addrd with fathers joining
counselors in the activities
All will return to the Medford
YMCA Saturday noon.
High school boys are now
being selected and trained as
counselors for the ramp.
There will be one counselor
for every seven bovs.
The program will include
building campsites, hiking,
fishing, games, crafts and
swimming
All parents of first and sec
ond grade boys, interested In
including them In the camp
program, are asked to call

tion, Fred O. Sapp. Jr., Is the
day camp director.
