The university's Interest In
Nepal is based on the Uni

At that time, under a con
tract with the U.S. Stale De
partment and the Internation
al Cooperation Administra
tion, several University of
Oregon faculty members went
to the small Asian kingdom
for advisory assistance, the
Nepalese College of Education
was organized, the new Trib
huvan university was plan
ned, and Nepalesc educators
were trained on the Eugene
campus.
The university also was
chosen for the training pro
gram because of the experi
ence gained under the polit
ical science department's pro
gram in the Philippines under
a Carnegie grant to study
community development.
