Suits Filed in Land Investments

return on land investments in
Central Oregon.
The suits were filed by Paul
C. Davenport, Robert and
Patty Detrick, and Richard
and Mary Gainer.
Davenport filed suit against
Charles M. Simmons asking
return of some $4,000 invested
in land near La Pine and also
$20,000 in punitive damages.
The Detricks filed suit
against ' Simmons, La Pine
Corp., Trans-American Prop
erty Corp., Charles Simmons
II and Francis J. Roy, avert
ing they invested some $15,
000 and had not yet received
land deeds. The Gainers
named Simmons and La Pine
Acres, claiming they had in
vested $3,000 for which they
had received no deeds or re
payment despite demands.
The suits said the invest
ments were made last sum
mer. Mean while, Dlst. Atty.
George Van Hoomlssen said
his office was investigating
complaints from about a dozen
persona In connection with
land sales. He said he has
discussed the matter with fed
eral and state officials.

a B47 that crashed Friday
night into the snow-blanketed
wilderness of Yellowstone Na

The House agreed to accept
Senate amendments.
The bill would amend a
1061 law requiring primary
manufacture ot such logs In
Oregon. It would give an out
right exemption to Port Or
ford white cedar. Backers said
there is no demand for manii'
facture of raw cedar logs at
Oregon mills.
The measure provides for
an export permit system, un
dor the Forestry department.
