Ackley-Martin Wedding
Announced in Medford'
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Robert
Ackley are living in San
?rancisco following their wed
ding trip to Carmel, Calif.
Their marriage was an event
of April 20 in Saint Francis'
Episcopal church in San Fran-
Cisco.
The bride la the former
Miss Ruth Marlon Martin,
daughter of Dr. Francis w
Martin, Yreka, Calif., and
Mrs. Eleanor A. Martin, also
of the Bay city.
The bridegroom, a former
Medford resident, is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. Argel C. Ackley,
S22 Haven street, Medford
who went south for the wed
ding. Also attending the cere
monies from Medford were
the bridegroom's brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs
Robert Ackley.
The seven o'clock evening
ceremony was performed by
the Rev. Roger B. Dlisell.
Clasimaias Attend
Attending the bride were
Miss Jan Kingsley, Redwood
City, Calif., the rr.ald of hon
or, and Miss Pauline Schroe-
der, Athe.'ton, Calif., a brides
maid. Both are classmates of
the bride at St. Luke's hos
pital school of nursing, San
Francisco.
Tracy Haines, Chlco, Calif.,
a niece of the bridegroom,
was flower girl.
Scott Peterson, Eugene,
Ore., was best man. Seating
the guests were Robert Ack
ley and Henry Courtney of
Eugene.
The bride, given In mar
riage by her father, wore a
floorlength gown of silk bro
cade designed with bell-shaped
skirt. The neckline at the
back was trimmed with a bow
to which long streamers were
attached. She carried a bou
quet of white Mission Dolores
orchids with stephanotis.
The attendants' frocks were
of pale yellow organdy over
yellow taffeta and they car
ried white daisies with ivy.
The bride's mother wore a
candlelight brocade dress
with matching accessories and
the bridegroom's mother was
dressed in a pink brocade
sheath dress with jacket and
white accessories. Both had
pink camellia corsages.
The reception was held at
the Red Chimney restaurant,
at StoneStown, San Francisco.
The bride has attended San
Jose State college and she Is
to graduate from the hospital
nursing school in late July.
She is affiliated with Gamma
Phi Beta sorority. '
The bridegroom attended
Jackson school and McLough
lln Junior High school in
Medford, and is a graduate of

Is a 1963 University of Ore
gon graduate and the couple
will move to Eugene in Au
gust. The bridegroom will
continue his studies in law at
the university.

Ashland - Two former Ash
land schoolmates were mar
ried by a former Ashland
rector on April 13 in Eureka,
Calif. The service which wed
ded Charlene Ann Petersen
and John Ernest Henion was
performed b.y ne Rev. John L.
Thompson Jr. in Christ Epis
copal church,
Until last year the Drmes
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Petersen of Areata, Calif.,
lived in Ashland. Mr. Henion,
who is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Grimes, Paramount,
Calif., attended , the local
schools.
A floor-length Ivory satin
gown fashioned with fitted
bodice, long sleeves and brush
train was worn by the bride.
Her French Illusion net veil
was held by a filagree tiara of
lace and seed pearls and she
carried a shower bouquet of
white orchids and stephanotis
upon a prayer book. An heir
loom crystal necklace belong
ing to a longtime family
friend, Mrs. Dulcie Decker,
Burlingame, Calif., was her
only jewelry. She was escort
ed to the altar by her father.
The maid of honor. Miss
Linda Lorton, Ashland High
school classmate of the bride,
wore a sapphire crystallne
frock, tiny veil and white
gloves and carried a nosegay
of blue and white carnations.
Charles Bounds of Ashland
was the best man and guests
were seated by the bride's
brother, Dale Petersen of the
U.S. Navy, and her cousin,
Don Jimerson, Ashland.
Liliss on Altar
The afternoon ceremony
was performed before an altar
banked with Easter lilies and
lighted by tall candelabra.
Organ music was played by
James Mearns, Areata, and the
vocal soloist was Clarence
Walla, Eureka.
Guests were greeted in the
parish hall following the
church rites at a reception
where Mrs. Esther Simington,
Dunsmulr, the bride's great
aunt, and Mrs. Leah Jimer
son, Ashland, her aunt, pre
sided at the tea table. Mrs.
Duke Lorton, Ashland, took
charge of the guest book and
Mrs. Gerald McMasters, Ar-

Barber and Walter Grow won
first place with 32 points. Mr.
and Mrs. Paul A. Hatton tick
second with 26 points, and
third was won by Mr. and
Mrs. L. E. Clark, who jeered

Festival of Fine Arts Opens
Ashland Southern Ore

Arts will open Itviuy with a
recital at 3 o'clock presented
by the music department. The
festival will continue through
May 12, and there is no
charge of any of the events.
Monday, at 3 p.m. there
will be a film program in
Britt Center, Room 118; fol
lowed by a poetry reading
session by Dr. Arthur Krels
man, of the humanities di
vision at the college.
Professor Angus L. Bow
mer, founder-producer of the
famed Oregon Shakespearean
festival, will lecture on
Shakespeare at 11 a.m. Tues
day May 7 in Britt 116, and
at 7:30 p.m. another film pro
gram will be shown in Britt
ballroom.

with the Artists" session at 10
