Aker-Netlson Rites
Miss Gloria Neilson became
the bride of William Aker In
8 o'clock evening ritej April
28 in the Medford First Pre
; bylenan church. Dr. D. Kirk

, mony.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Neilson,
2130 East Jackson street, and
the bridegroom is a son of
John Aker, Piltsburfch, Pa.,
and the late Mrs. Aker.
About 350 guests attended
the ceremony and reception,
making the wedding one of
spring s largest social events.
Mrs. Lawrence LLster, Port
land, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Miss Bar
bara Neilson, Portland, Miss
Shelley Mullin, Los Angeles,
both cousins; and Miss Gail
Voight.
Tim Arnold, San Jose,
Calif., served as best man.
Ushers were Roger Neilson, a
brother; Richard Neilson,
Northridge, Calif., a cousin,
and Richard Carter.
Mr. Neilson escorted his
daughter to the altar and gave
her in marriage. She wore a
floor length gown of silk or
ganza over peau de soie with
ChantlUy lace Inserts. Her
bouffant veil, which had been
made by her mother, was held
by a tiara of pearls and crys
tals. The bride's bouquet was
of roses and stephanotis
which she carried on a mother-of-pearl
covered Bible her
mother had brought from the
Holy land. She wore a ring
loaned by Mrs. A. C. Pierce.
The bride also carried hand
kerchiefs given her by Miss

The attendants' frocks were
of blue silk organza over peau
de soie, designed with bell
shaped skirts. Their hats were
of net and organza and they
carried blue and. v.'Inte butter
flies with gladioli blossoms.
Candlclighters were James
Stinson and John Skinner.
The wedding songs were
sung by Mrs. Charles Champ-
lin. Mrs. Dudley Peterson
played the organ wedding
music,
Mrs. Pierce and Mrs. Clif
ford Miller served the wed
ding cake during the recep
tion given by the bride s par
ents. Mrs. Hcbing served cof
fee and tea and Mrs. Milton
Hacklcy, Los Angeles, pour
ed the punch. The cake knife
used was a gift to the couple
from Miss Bciilah Warner.
Mrs. Robert Fry registered
the guests. The reception dec
orations were in the butterfly
theme of the wedding.
For her daughter's wedding
the bride's mother wore a roy
al blue silk shantung suit
dress. Her corsage was an or
chid. ...
For traveling the bride
wore a beige dress with
matching mohair jacket.
.'The couple will live in San
Jose, where both will teach
The bride is a Medford High
school graduate and a grad
uate of Stephens college, Co
lumbia, Mo. She holds a bach
elor of arts degree from San
Jose Slate college and has
done graduate work there.
The bridegroom attended
University of Michigan and
San Jose State college, where
he received a degree In crim
inology last February.

was a rehearsal dinner given
by Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hub
bard in their home at 2451

day breakfast given by Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford Voight in

Returns Home
Mrs. H. E. Nulton has re'
turned to her home at 341
Ardmore avenue after spend
ing some time in Boise, Idaho
with her, family including her
father, Earl Rankin.
While there Mrs. Nulton at
tended installation of officers
of Boise chapter 85, Order
of the Eastern Star. Her sis
ter, Mrs. Robert Carter, was
installed worthy matron.
The Nulton's daughter and
son-in-law, Lt. and Mrs. Ron
ald E. Fields, are now sta
tioned at Myrtle Beach, S.C.,
where the officer is on duty
with the radar unit at the
Myrtle Beach Air Force base.

Presbyterian church, are shown here as they left the church
after the ceremony, held at eight o'clock in the evening. The
bride is the former Gloria Neilson, daughter of Mr, and

To Wed Medical Student
Mrs. Robert W. Sleeter, 39
South Berkeley Way, an

daughter, Roberta Ann, to Ed
ward G. Foxley Jr., Portland.
Miss Sleeter is also the daugh-

Sleeter.
Mr. Foxley is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward G. Foxley
of Salem, Ore. Mr. Foxley
Sr. .is deputy attorney general
of Oregon.
The wedding has been set
for July 26.
Miss Sleeter, a member of
Kappa Alpha Theta, will grad
uate from the University of
Oregon in June with a degree
in medical technology.
Mr. Foxley, a sophomore at
the University of Orejon med
ical school, was graduated
from Willamette university in
19B1. He is a member of Phi
Delta Theta and Nu Sigma Nu
medical fraternity.

News of interest here is the
announcement of the engage
ment of Miss Virginia Miller
to James P. Clifford. The
news was made known by the
bride-elect's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William P. Miller, Alex
andra, Va.
The bridegroom-elect Is a
son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert
J. Clifford, 131B South Stage
road, Medford.
Miss Miller is a graduate
of Alexandra High school and
Is to graduate In June from
the Queen of Angels hospital
school of nursing in Los Angeles.
Her fiance was graduated
from Medford High school
and attended Oregon State
university. He is a member
of Delta Upsilon social Ira
tcrnity. He is to graduate
from Northrop Institute of
Technology inlnglewood,
Calif., in September. He has
spent three years in the Unit
ed States Air Force.
No wedding date has been

Miss Ralls is a 1060 gradu
ate of Crater High school and
attended Prairie Bible insti
tute in Alberta, Canada for
one and one-half years.
Her fiance attended schools
in Maywood and now is a
second class petty officer in
the Navy stationed at the
Naval hospital In Oakland,
Calif.
No date has been set for
the wedding.

Golden are making their
home In Long Beach, Calif.,
following their wedding in
Medford at First Methodist
church. Dr. George G. Rose
berry officiated at the A
o'clock evening rites attended
by 70 relatives and friends.
-The bride is the former
Harlene Jeanette Willis,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Har
old Willis, 626 Catherine
street. Mr. Golden's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Gold
en. 068 Gilman road.
Given in marriage by her
father, she chose his birthday,
April 6, for the wedding, lt
was also the date of her
sister's wedding last year.
The bride wore a floor
length white satin dress with
lace, nearl and sequin accents.
The sleeves were long and the
back was accented with a
ruffle from the waist to the
hemline. Her veil was held by
a crown and she carried white
carnations and yellow rose
buds.
Mrs. George Chambers serv
ed as honor attendant for her
sister and other attendants
were Mrs. James Burg and
Miss Sandra Todd. They wore
floor length dresses of yellow
satin with white accessories.
Mra. Chambers carried yellow
rosebuds with white carna
tions and the other attendants
carried white carnation bouquets.
Dennis Golden served as
best man for his brother and
seating the guests were Mr.
Chambers and James Golden,
another brother.
Mrs. Leslie Boardman play
ed the wedding music and ac
companied Mrs. D. G. Mac
Dougall, soloist. The church
was decorated with baskets of
white stock and yellow
chrysanthemums.
A reception was held at the
church following the wedding.
Miss Wendy Johnson, assist
ed by Mrs. Jerry Sawyer,
cousin of the bride, cut and
served the cake and Mrs.
Earnest Akin, aunt of the
bride, poured coffee. Miss
Barbara Morton presided at
the punch bowl and Mrs.
Mary Jane Withrow, grand
mother oi the bride, was at
the guest book.
For their wedding trip
along the coast, the bride wore
a black sheath with black and
white checkered coat and red
accessories.
The bride attended Med-r
ford schools and was a nurses
aide at Rogue Valley hospital
Mr. Golden also attended
Medford schools and is serv
ing in the U. S. Navy aboard
the USS Samuel N. Moore,
homeported at Long Beach.

Bernice Aletta Bigham, is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. El
bert Bigham, Dagle Point.
The bridegroom is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Evans,
Joncsboru, Indiana.
A reception was held in
their honor at the Girls Com
munity club, Medford, during
their visit.
Cutting the cake were Mrs.
Roy Patton, sister of the
bride, and Miss Linda Bigham,
cousin. Pouring punch was
Mrs. Richard McDowell, a
cousin. An aunt of the bride.
Mrs. Frank Myers, and Mrs.

Patty Bigham, a cousin, pre

wore a full length wnite
satin wedding dress with lace
and net. The neckline was
outlined with pearls. Her
shoulder length veil of net
was held by a crown of pearls.
The couple's marriage was
an event of April 6 at Pacific
Grove, Calif., in First Chris
tian church. The 11 o'clock
morning ceremony was per
formed by the Rev. Perry
Swann. Miss Monique Wet
ton, Pacific Grove, was maid
of honor, Douglas Wilcox,
Monterey, was best man.
The bride wore a white
suit.
She is an Eagle isolnt High
school graduate and attended
the University of Oregon. At
the present the bride la
teacher In Fremont Junior
High school in Seaside, Calif.,
and she is to teach this com
ing year at Monterey.
The bridegroom is employ
ed by the Rollie French Lath

Tea Announced
Hombrook - Plans for the
annual Mother's day lea were
made by the members of the
Christian Women's Communi
ty fellowship of the local
Methodist church when they
met Thursday at the home of
Miss Orpha Wagner. The date
of the tea has been set lor
Thursday, May 9 at the Fire
side room of the church.
The cake and apron sale,
usually held in May, has been
postponed until June. Mrs. Er
nest Adams, president of the
'group, appointed as a nomi
nating committee Mrs. Mary
Taggart, Mrs. Ardon Burns,
and Mrs. Wayne Cummins.
Election of officers will be
held at the next meeting
which will be held May 23 at
