Red Raiders Score
Fifth Track Victory
Ashland - Southern Oregon
college extended lis winning
streak to five straight as the
Red Raiders tallied 123Va
points over University of Pa
cific's 38, Central Oregon col
lege's 13'4, and Southwestern
Oregon college's 6 points.
The Raiders captured 14 of
the 17 top positions in the
four-way meet. Doyle Bran
son), Fred Thomas, and Den
ny Ellis of SOC all had double
first place victories. Bransom
brought in the top team score
as he took two first, one sec
ond and helped in the mile
relay for 14Vi team points.
Don W a t k 1 n i and Bob
Stackelford brought home
two first place positions for
Pacific. Watkins took the
high jump with a six foot
jump. In the shot put Stack
elford placed first with I 46
foot 11 "4 inch put.
Because of the high winds,
times were held below all the
records. With winds of high
speeds none of the existing
records could be broken. The
pole vault was held to a low
of 12 feet 7 inches because of
the wind.
In the 100 and 220 yard
dashes, Doyle Bransom faced
some of the strongest compe
tition of the year in the Uni
versity of Pacific's Dick Si
mas. Bransom beat Simas in
both events by inches. In the
100 Simas was timed with a
10.3 and given a second be
hind Bransom. In the 220
Bransom won by three-tenths
of a second.
Friday the Raiders will face
Oregon Technical institute in
a dual meet in Klamath Falls.
The Raiders hold a five win
and no loss record,
