Easter Seal Drive
Collects $3,784
A total of $3,784 has been
collected to date in Jackson
county in the annual Easter
Seal sale of the Oregon So
ciety for Crippled Children
and Adults, according to a
report made by Epsilon Sig
ma Alpha sorority and Rob
ert Ross, Medford branch,
First National Bank of Port
land. The sorority took
charge of the sale under
the chairmanship of Mrs. Le
land Carpenter, Medford, and
Ross served as treasurer.
The report showed collec
tions of $573.31 on the lily
day sale, $200.42 in school
coin cards, $206 from con
tainers placed in stores, and
$2,804 from Easter seals.
The funds are used to sup
port the work of the national
and Oregon societies for Crip
pled Children and Adults, to
the Children's Hospital
school, Eugene, and for
Camp Easter Seal for crip
pled children on the coast.

Car Fira - Medford firemen
were called at 11:43 a.m.
Saturday when a car fire was
reported in front of 733 South
Holly st. The carburetor ap
parently backfired in an auto
belonging to Fred M. Gatter,
28 South Groveland ave., ig
nited gasoline in the carbure
tor and then extended to an
oil bath type cleaner. There
was damage to the paint,
wiring and air cleaner.
Pletsch Returns from
New York Meetings
J. H. Pletsch, executive
vice president and manager
of the Jackson County Fed
eral Savings and Loan asso
ciation, is back in his office
after attending the manage
ment conference of the United
States Savings and Loan
League in New York.
Pletsch served as one of
three panel members discuss
ing advertising and business
promotions at the conference.
He also attended a special
meeting of the U. S. League
in New York City on Mutual
Savings associations.

sang "He Is Risen.' Eleanor
Mankins closed the tableau
with a short prayer.
Marie Pfnister read a poem,
"My Old Home," and showed
a painting of the old home
in North Dakota.
A skit, "New Machines,"

Klamath Falls Funeral
j services for Mrs. Harriet
Ruger Ramsay, wife of Elton
Ramsay, a former Ashland
resident, was held in Klamath
Falls Friday.
Mrs. Ramsay died April 23
following a long illness. She
and her husband had lived in
Ashland, where they received
their education, for many
years before moving to Kla
math Falls.
Surviving are her husband,
two daughters, four grand
children and three brothers
and a sister; Dorrance Ruger,
Ashland; Mrs. Carl Schmidt,
Medford, and John and Ray
mond Ruger, Klamath- Falls.
Friends who wish to honor
Mrs. Ramsay's memory are
asked to make contributions
to the Red Cross blood bank.

ices for Miss Grace Lytle, re
tired Jackson county school
teacher, who died April 18
at the Methodist Retirement
home in Salem, will be held
at the Methodist church here
today by the Rev. Malcolm
Hammond.
Miss Lytle made her home
in Ashland until less than two
years ago when she entered
the retirement home. She
taught in a number of Jack
son county schools and was a
member of the Jackson Coun
ty Retired Teachers associa
tion and of Delta Kappa Gam
ma. She is survived by two
brothers, Robert Lytle, form
er Jackson county commis
sioner, of Ashland, and Harry
Lytle of Bend.
Funeral services were held
in Salem at the Rigdon mor
tuary and interment also was
in the capital city.

Talent,, died in a local hos
pital Friday evening. Funeral

of which he was a member.
Mr. McKemie was born
June 1, 1903, in West Point,
Ga., and had lived in south
ern Oregon for 22 years. He
was married Dec. 31, 1932,
in Oakland, Calif., to Lucile
Kruger, who survives.
Other survivors Include
two sons, Ronald McKemie, at
home; and Kenneth McKemie,
Roscburg, Ore.; and a sister,

and eight great-grandchildren.
