Olficers concluded a two-day
annual workshop here this
week end with approximately
55 city recorders, treasurers
and finance directors in at
tendance. A major session of the
workshop centered on House
Bill 1229, revising the local
budget law. The bill, passed
by the House and now in the
Senate Tax committee, was
called "one of the most im
portant pieces of legislation
in years affecting city finance
officers." It met with mixed
reaction on the part of the
officers, most of whom favor
ed the revision in general but
disagreed on specific points.
