Fourth and Front
George Harold Moses, 21,
of 1438 South College Way,
Ashland, who was killed in
an automobile accident Thurs
day, had been active in both
football and wrestling at Ash
land High school and South
ern Oregon college.
Moses was dead on arrival
at Ashland General hospital
following a collision on the
unopened section of Interstate
5 near Talent, according to
Oregon state police.
Moses had been a student
at Southern Oregon college
this term, when he was em
ployed in Medford.
According to state police,
Moses was northbound in the
southbound lane of the par
tially completed freeway,
when his car struck a truck
tractor with a set of double
trailers about 1.4 miles north
of the Valley View inter
change. Driver of the truck
was Frank Alvin Batchelor
Jr., 49, of 540 Northwest
Manzanita St., Grants Pass.
Leaves Skid Marks
Police said the Moses car
left 115 feet of skid marks
before hitting the left front
end of the truck-tractor. The
impact moved the tractor 12
feet, police said.
Moses was a center on the
Southern Oregon college foot
ball team and was a member
of t h e State Shriner's team,
playing in Portland the sum
mer following his high school
graduation.
Among survivors are his
wife, one child, and his par
ents. Funeral arrangements will
be announced by Litwiller's
Funeral home.

moved to southern Oregon in
1932, and was plant manager
with American Fruit Growers
association until 1948. He
built and operated Stagecoach
Orchards with his brother,
Gordon. He was a member of
the Medford Elks Lodge.
Survivors, besides his wife,
include three sons. George S.
Green Jr., Bakersfield, Calif.;
Gerald D. Green, Portland,
Ore.; and Donald C. Green,
San Jose, Calif.; a daughter,
Mrs. William B. Barnum Jr.,
Medford; his mother, Mrs.
Mary E. Green, Medford;
four brothers, Stanley H.
Green, Los Angeles, Calif ;
Gordon R. Green, Medford;
Lloyd E. Green, San Diego,
Calif.; and William H. Green,
San Rafael, Calif.; and a sis
ter, Mrs. Marion Groth, New
port Beach, Calif.
Honorary casket bearers
will include Frank Tamney,
Joseph Myers, Bruce Flem
ing, and Piatt Andrews. Ac

26, 1949, in Reno, Nev., to Al
fred E. Francis, who survives.

Grass Valley, Calif.; three

D'Amour, New Mexico; Mrs.
Phyllis Maki, Bend, Ore.; and

Franklin Casey, 73, of Talent,
who died Tuesday, will be
held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in
Conger - Morris downtown
chapel. The Rev. George Rose
berry of the First Methodist

Mr. Casey was born April
23. 1890. in Reno, Nev., a son
of the late Charles Peter and
Eva Adell Casey. His father
was living in Jacksonville at
the age of 15 years, during
the Modoc Indian wars. He
was a veteran of World War I,
serving in Company D, 159th
Regiment Infantry, u. s.
Army.
Survivors include a broth
er, J. LeRoy Casey, Medford;
four nephews and two nieces.
Casket bearers will include
Les Pruett, George Davis,
William Gleim, Ray Rapp,
Eddie Heim, and H. Peterson.
MRS. GEORGE GLYNN
Mrs. George Glynn, Port
land, formerly of Medford,
died this morning in a hos
pital at Crescent City, Calif.,
from injuries in an automo
bile accident April 1 near
Willow Creek, Calif.
As a child, Mrs. Glynn at
tended valley schools and in
recent years has visited rela
tives here.
Among the survivors are
one sister, Mrs. Burdette Sul
livan, Medford, and three
brothers. Floyd Long, Med
ford; Charles Long, Talent,
and Donald Long, Fern Val
ley.
WILLIAM McKIEME
William H. McKieme, 59, of
1013 West Main St., Medford,
died this morning in a local
hospital. Funeral services will
be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday
in Conger - Morris downtown
chapel. Committal will be in
Hillcrest Memorial park.

2 o'clock this afternoon at
Memory Gardens Funeral
home.

Memory Gardens Memorial
park.
Mr. Chapman was born
June 1, 1904, in Cainsville,
Mo. He came to Medford
from California in 1944. For
the past three years he had
been employed as a welder at
the Oak Street Tank and
Steel company of Ashland.
Prior to this, he had worked
several years for Montgomery
Ward. He was a member of
the Musicians Union.
Survivors include his wife,
Valerie F. Chapman, Med
ford: two sons. Howard Chap
man. Ontario, Calif., and Wal
ter Chapman, Groton, Conn.; a
daughter, Mrs. Shirley Hack
er, Stamford, Conn.; eight
grandchildren; two brothers,
Earl Chapman, Des Moines,
Iowa, and Alvin Chapman
Seal Beach, Calif.; and two
sisters, Grace Blanton, Pica
yune, Miss.; and Pearl Carr,
Perry, Iowa.
