was reported to be home from
the hospital, and members,
Mr. and Mrs. Reed McKay,

Nat Etzel, Eagle Point High
school, showed colored pic
tures taken during his recent
visit to Czechoslovakia and
Austria. At the close ot the
meeting refreshments were
served by hostesses Mrs.
Mary Cassal and Mrs. Chet
Calloway.
Two new members who
have recently moved to Shady
Cove, Mr. and Mrs. Owen
Austin, were welcomed by
the Grange members.

Posey, Crater Lake highway,
on Tuesday, April 9. Chair
man, Mrs. Lewis Dusenbcrry,
called ofr committee reports.

The Shady Cove Grange
will be hosts to the Pomona
Grange on April 24 so the
club members made plans for
the dinner and program for
that event. Further plans
were also made for the rum
mage and plant sale to be
held at the Shady Cove Fire
house en May 24.
The May meeting of the
club will be held at the home
of Mrs. Mary Cassal on Lewis
creek, Trail, Tuesday, May
14.
Enforcement of
Marine Laws Holed
The Jackson county sher
iffs office will aim for strict
enforcement of the state mar
Ine law this year, according
to Sheriff De Armond Leigh.
"My primary concern is for
better and safer boating and
we will be available for any
assistance needed as well as
for enforcement," the sheriff
said.
He recommended the fol
lowing safety precautions:
Carry at least one Coast
Guard approved life preserver
for e a c h person, have prop
er lighting equipment for
after dark operations, dis
play the proper boat ident
ifying number on the bow if
eight horsepower or more is
used plus an annual boat li
ce n s e if the boat Is 12
feet or longer.
Also, the boat should not
be overloaded, Hie operator
must have a valid certificate
of the boat's identifying num
ber on his person, Leigh said.
All boats will be checked at
launching sites.
Building Permits
Compared for March
Building permits decreased
In Mcdford, but increased in
Grants Pass in March, 1963,
compared to March, 1062, the
University of Oregon bureau
ot business research has re
ported. In March. 1063, the Mcd
ford total of $742,285. com
pared lo $1,053,061 in the
same month last year. In
Grunts Pass the recent total
is $142,600 compared to $124,
200 in March, 1062.
Medford had a tolal of 2f
units in new dwellings start
ed during the month for a
valuation of $349,900, which
indicated an increase in mo
tels or apartments. In Grants
Pass seven new dwellings
were started with a valuation
of $90,500, showing an in
crease in new homes,
Armed Forces Day
Activities Listed
Klamath Falls - Kinsslcy
Field has announced plans
for Armed Forces day to be
held Saturday, May 18.
A downtown Klamath Falls
parade will be held that day
followed by an open house on
the Kingslcy Field flight line.
Approximately 15 aircraft
from all services will bo dis
played, according tc the plan
ning committee. Emphasis will
be on a display of Century j
Series aircraft, the most mod
am fighter planes in the na-1
lion's Air Force inventory.
