Wall Damaged - The Talent
Rural Fire department was
called this week to extinguish
a fire at the Walter Nunley
home on Pioneer rd. The fire
apparently started in a wall
near the fireplace. The wall
was damaged extensively be
fore the fire was brought
under control.

police reports, when she was

Funeral services for Oscar
Charles (Duke) Lewis, 80, of
Jacksonville, who died Thurs
day, will be held at 11:30 a.m.
Saturday in Conger-Morris
downtown chapel. The Rev.
George Roseberry of the First
Methodist church will offici
ate. Committal will be private.
Mr. Lewis was born April
14. 1883, in Aumsville, Ore.,
and had lived in the state all
his life, moving to this area
with his parents from the Wil
lamette valley.
His father operated a livery
stable at Jacksonville, and
drove the stage coach line to
Copper and other points. He
operated a grocery store in
Jacksonville from X920 to
1036, and was employed for
a time in the county shops.
With Mrs. Myrtle P. Lee, he
helped in setting up the initial
displays in the Jacksonville
Museum.
He was married Feb. 12,
1912, in Jacksonville, to Daisy
Morgan, who preceded him in
death two years ago.
Survivors include a son,
Ray Lewis, Medford, and
four nephews.
