The erosion of public con

from people becoming better

She is convinced that a heavy

Weight Reduction With Drugs
Recently Dr. Sami A. Hash
im of Columbia university
wrolc a paper on the prob
lem of reducing weight. He
said that many drugs have
been proposed for reducing
the appetite of the over
weight person, but in his ex
perience none of these has
been entirely satisfactory.
The derivatives of amphet
amine can, at first, cause a
decided decrease in appetite,
but Dr. Hashim has found
that tolerance soon develops,
and then the person has to
keep increasing the dose. Be
cause of this, some persons
become addicted to the drug.
I have always refused to
give drugs to help people re
duce, because then they are
templed to cat too much
always hoping that the drug
will cover up their fail from
grace.
He believes it is important
resent a cross-section of the
! economic community so that
I adversaries for or against a
particular interest will be out
numbered by those with a
more detached view.

income.
UUman Lost Money
Congressman Ullman said
his total income is somewhat
less than his congressional sal
ary at present because he has
lost money on outside invest
ments. His only assets 'cur
rently are several parcels of
real estate, most of it in Bak
er, his home town, and a few
government bonds.
"I would favor a disclosure
bill." said Ullman. "but it
should have a meaningful set
of guidelines so that every
one knows what income or
what assets should be report
