PET TALK
By M.I.L.
LITTLE BLACK DOG
I wonder if Christ had a little
black dog
All curly and wooly like
mine,
With two long silky ears and
nose, round and wet.
And two eyes brown and
tender that shine.
I am sure if He had, that the
little black dog
Knew right from the first
that He was God;
That he needed no proof that
Christ waa divine,
And just worshipped the
ground where He trod,
I'm afraid that He hadn't be-
cause I have read
How He prayed in the garden
alone.
For all of His friends and
disriplcs had fled,
Even Peter, the one they
called stone.
And, Oh, I am sure that the
little black dog.
With a heart so tender and
warm.
Would never have left Him to
suffer alone:
But creeping right under His
arm.
Would have licked the dear
fingers, in agony clasped,
And counting all favors but
loss,
When they look Him would
have trotted behind.
And followed Him quite to
the Cross.

PROTECT OUR WILDLIFE
The American Humane
Education Society offers the
following advice to campers
In order that they may help
save Ihc lives of wlldlitc:
Take a little extra time be
fore disposing o( empty cans
and bottles, and you will un
doubtedly save the life of
one of the wild creatures we
enjoy seeing around our sum
mer camps.
Too often during the sum
mer, raccoons, skunks and
other animals get their heads
trapped in opened tin cans
and glass jars. This situation
will be avoided if both lids
are removed and the cans
flattendcd. Glass containers
should be rinsed out also and
then broken for the same rea
son. An animal with its head
tightly wedged in a tin can or
glass jar is in danger of dying
a slow death of starvation.
Don't be a litter bug . . .
Every litter bit endangers our
wildlife:
