School Budget
Eagle Point An election
on the budget for School Dis
, trict 9 has been sceduled
Wednesday, April 17. Polls
will be open from 2 to 8 p.m.
Voting will be at three dif
ferent locations. Voters in
precincts 14, 19, 20, 21, 22,
73 and 73B will cast ballots
at the Eagle Ponit High school
gym, precincts 25 and 26 at
Shady Cove school and pre
cincts 23, 24 and 74 at Elk
Trail school.
The school budget calls for
a tax levy of $726,386.84. Of
this amount $89,597.63 is In
side the 6 per cent limitation,
$542,799.37 is outside the 6
per cent limitation and $33
989.84 is not subject to the
6 per cent limitation because
it is for bond and interest re
tirement.
Increase, Over 1962
This is an increase of $74,'
327.61 over the amount that
was voted this year.
The Increase in the school
budget is due to increased op
erational costs and the need
for more certified and non
certified personnel to accom
modate the rising school en
rollment, school district of
ficials said.
General fund expenditures
Include four new teachers;
two for the lower grades, one
for the intermediate grades,
and one new high school sci
ence teacher. Two part-time
clerical assistants will aid in
cataloging and processing
books for the grade school
libraries.
An amount has been ; la
eluded as part payment of the
speech therapist who will be
employed by several school
districts in the county. New
furniture and equipment is
needed to accommodate the
increased enrollment, officials
said.
