Group to Hold Final Session
The final session of the
Great Decisions discussion
group will be held Wednes
day, March 27, in Wesley hall
of First Methodist church, The
topic will be "Peace."

and start promptly at noon,

Soup and coffee are furnish
ed by the committee and per

Lutheran Church Scene
Of Banks-Garrett Rites
An event of Thursday,
March 13, was the marriage
of Cecile Marie Garrett to
Larry Gene Banks. The bride
is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. C. J. Bell, 1016 Beck
man street, Mcdford, and the
bridegroom is the son of Mrs.
Austin Rossitter, Sutherlin,
Ore.
The Rev. Harvey C.
Coovert officiated al the
8 o'clock evening ceremony,
held in Zion Lutheran church.
About 150 relatives and
friends attended the double
ring candlelight ceremony.
Baskets filled with blue
tipped white carnations dec
orated the altar, and white
EBtin bows and ribbon were
on the pew ends.
Mrs. Paul A. Evansen
played the organ and accom
panied Miss Anita Townsend,
the vocalist.
The bride had designed her
gown of floor-length eggshell
white brocade taffeta made
with a scalloped neckline,
basque waist trimmed with
pearls and skirt accented
with a bustle. Her tiny tiara
was of nylon leaves studded
with iridescent pearls and she
carried white carnations and
pink roses.
The bride's father escorted
her to the altar and gave her
in marriage.
The bride's honor attend'
ant was her sister, Miss Joy
Bell. Bridesmaids were Miss
Norma Kuper and Miss Col
leen Drlnkwaler. They wore
identical blue taffeta frocks
fashioned ballerina length
with princess waists and
pleated skirts. Their head
dresses were blue bows and
they carried bouquets of blue
tipped while carnations.
Little Debbie Bell, sister of
the bride, was flower girl.
Her frock was of the same
style and color as those of the
other attendants, and she car
ried a white basket filled
with white camellias. Paul
Weiss carried the rings on n
white satin heart-s h a p e d
pillow.
Lyle Kuper served as best
man and ushers were Nelson
Bell, uncle of the bride, and
Lee Melz.
For the wedding ceremony
and the reception which fol
lowed in the social hall of the
church the bride's mother
chose a teal blue tailored
frock with black and white
accessories. Her corsage was
of while carnations. The
bridegroom's mother wore a
two-piece suit of teal blue,
black and white accessories
and a similar corsage of
white carnations.
The reception was given
by the bride's parents. The
wedding cake was served by
Mrs. Max Hite. Mrs. Edward
Melz had charge of the guest
book. Mrs. Scott McCannell,
Mrs. Frank Converse and
Miss Barbra Bycrs poured.
The newlyweds made a
wedding trip to Nevada and
the California coast.. For the
trip the bride chose a red
knit two-piece suit, with
black accessories. They will
be at home at 1608 West Main
street, Mcdford.
The bride has lived in the
Rogue valley all her life and
is a graduate of Medford
High school. Mr. Banks is a
graduate of the high school
in Winston, Ore. He is em
ployed in the sales depart
ment of the Montgomery
Ward company, Medford.
Out of town guests were
Mrs. Nellie Dean, grandmoth
er of the bridegroom and
Mrs. Ada Boyum, an aunt,
Sutherlin, Ore.
Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Tosh,
1916 Grandview avenue, an
nounce the engagement of
their daughior, Phyllis Toah,
to Ralph Lester, ion of Mr.
and Mrs. Wayne Lester,
Route 4, Box 457, Coleman
Creek road. Miss Tosh is a
1962 graduate of Medford
High school and is employed
by MEDPACC. Mr. Lester is
a I960 graduate of Phoenix
High school and is employed
by Crystal Springs orchards.
A late summer wedding is
planned.
Ashland Mrs. Charlotte
Froman, 261 W. Horsey street,
went to Portland the first of
last week to visit at the home
of her son-in-law and daugh
ter. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Sher
idan.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Wil
liam Duggan, whose marriage
was a recent event, now are
living .at Santa Maria, Calif.,
where the bridegroom is serv
ing with the United States
Air Force at Vandenburg Air
Force base.
The bride, the former Miss
Lynn Darlcne Bickett, is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Bickett of Granada
Hills, Calif., and the bride
groom is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. W. Duggan, Land of
Many Oaks, Sams Valley.
Others besides the bride
groom's parents who were in
Granada Hills for the cere
mony were his maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Guy Mc
Martin; his great aunt, Mrs.
Mable Hundley; his sister,
Miss Dixie Duggan, and his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Duggan, all
of Sams Valley.
The wedding mass was cele
brated at 11 o'clock in the
morning, February 2 in St.
John Baptist de la Salle Cath
olic church 'in Granada Hills.

Barbara and Robin Bickett.

The bride's full length gown
was of lace and a lace tiara
held her elbow-length veil.
She carried a bouquet of
white carnations.
A one o'clock afternoon re
ception was held in the Gran
ada Hills Women's club when
a wedding dinner was served
to about 250 guests.
For her daughter's wedding
and reception Mrs. Bickett
wore a pink chiffon dress
with matching accessories.
The bridegroom's mother was
dressed in an ocean ice bro
cade frock with jacket and
full skirt. Her accessories
were turquoise. Both had lav
ender orchid corsages.
For traveling the bride
wore a salmon pink suit. The

Robert S. Hamilton, junior
at Dartmouth college in Han
over, New Hampshire, who
motored west with two fel
low students, for spring vaca
tion, is spending this weekend
in Oregon City as a guest of
his brother, Alex M. Hamilton,
Jr., and family. He will return
to Medford Sunday night to
visit his mother, Mrs. Moore
Hamilton, 43 Rose avenue, for
the remainder of the vacation.
Also a guest of the Oregon
City Hamiltons is Mr. Hamil
ton's aunti Mrs. E. P. Leavitt,
Old Stage road, who went to
Portland early in the week to
visit friends and attend the
annual convention of the Ore
gon Educatfon association.
Mrs. Bruce B. Samson, the
former Nancy Hamilton, has
been visiting her mother here
for a week. An English teach
er In North Eugene High
school, Mrs. Samson came to
Medford for the spring vaca
tion. Her husband, in his last
year of law at the University
of Oregon and a lieutenant in
the naval reserve, spent the
first part of the vacation fly
ing for the Navy out of Se
attle. , . . t

March will be honored at the
Wednesday, March 27 club
meeting in the Pythian build
ing. Luncheon wil lbe served
at 12 noon, a business meet
ing will follow and dancing
will begin at 2 p.m., with
music furnished by the Melod
ius Mclodlers.
An open invitation is ex
tended to those who are in
terested. A large attendance
was reported at the March
20 meeting when 12 persons
joined the club.

trip lo San Francisco.
The bride is a graduate of
Granada . Hills High school
and she attended Pierce col
lege. . The bridegroom is a
graduate of St. Mary's High
school in Medford, and he at
tended Sams Valley grade
schools.
The couple plans to live at
Land of Many Oaks at the
close of his four year tour of
duty in 1S64, when he will
be associated in business with
his father.
