To Stop Bickering

Lumbermen's association yes
terday told lumbermen to stop
bickering among themselves,
G. Cleveland Edgett, exec
utive vice president of the
YVCLA, warned the hard core
of the Northwest lumber in.
dustry at the group's 52nd
annual meeting here they
could no longer afford the
luxury of "continued tribal
fights."
He called for a mending of
the industry s splinter groups.
"We have two great prob
lems," he said. "What is go
ing to happen to lumber in
the market place for the fu
ture and what form of associ
ation efforts will be most ef
fective in reaching these mar
kets?"
Edgett said there is a "mon
umental job" to do in win
ning back the markets for
wood. He told WCLA mem'
bers that is this work "the
competition between lumber
and plywood is minor," com
pared to competition both face
from other materials.
