it over an eight foot embank
ment, accoring to Oregon state
police. The vehicle had to be
towed from the scene approx
imately three miles south of
Ashland on Highway 99. Op
erator of the other vehicle
was Thomas Carles Johnson,
54, Dell, Calif.
Accident Lincoln Lewis
Rutter, 6, of 1033 Queen Ann
ave., was treated for minor
injuries, then continued on
to school Tuesday noon, after
he was struck by a car at
the intersection of East Jack
son and Marie sts according
to Medford police. The boy
was hit by a car operated by
Emmett Young Bullard, 42,
of 22 North Berkeley Way,
when he attempted to cross
the street, officers said.
Permits Issued Building
permits for two $20,000 resi
dences have been issued by
the Medford building depart
ment. They were issued to
Hutchins and Clarke at 2414
Lyman ave. and E. Bostwick,
at 2932 Hillcrest rd.

terday in a local nursing
home. Funeral arrangements

ton R. (Paddy) Morrison, 66,
of 2120 East Main St., Med
ford, who died Wednesday,
will be neld at 11 a.m. Satur
day in Conger-Morris down
town chapel. The Rev. George
R. V. Bolster of St. Mark's
Episcopal church will offici
ate. Committal will be in
Siskiyou Memorial park.
Mr. Morrison was born Feb.
27, 1897, in Elma Township,
Ontario, Canada, and had
lived in Oregon for 20 years,
the past 4V4 years in Med
ford, where he owned and op
erated Morrison's Men's
Wear. He was a member of
the Elks.
He was married June 26,
1952. in St. Petersburg, Fla.,
to Leonora G. Cox, who sur
vives.
Other survivors include a
brother, C. Russell Morrison,
Kirkton, Ontario, Canada.
HARRY PINNIGER
Grants Pass Funeral serv
ices for Harry G. Pinnlger,
82. who died here Tuesday,
will be held at 2 p.m. Friday,
March 15, in the Hull and
Hull Funeral home.
Mr. Pinniger had made his
home in Grants Pass since his
retirement. He was preceded
in death by his wife five years
ago.
Survivors include two sons
and a daughter, James Pin
niger, Klamath Falls, and
Harry B. Pinniger, Grants
Pass: and Jewell Mansfield,
Detroit, Mich., and a grand
daughter, Mrs. Emu C. Knut'
sen. 149 Wlnema Way, Med
ford. Also surviving are five
other grandchildren and nine
great grandchildren.

Mrs. May Leclerc, Medford,
died early this morning in a
local hospital. Funeral ar
raneements are entrusted to

ices for Harry Hubert Chap
man, 73, of Hornbrook who
died Tuesday, will be held
at 11 a.m. Friday at the Horn
brook Methodist church. The

conducted at the graveside
in the Henley - Hornbrook
cemetery under the direction
of Howard lodge.
Mr. Chapman was born
July 28, 1889, in Southfield
Mich., and was a former Hr-n
brook postmaster and former
owner and operator of the
Hornbrook Water company
Mr. Chapman moved to
Hornbrook In 1911 and set cd

Hagerty, who died in 1939.
He married Mrs. Katherine
Edghill Fick in San Jore in
November, 1942.
For five years, he was em
ployed by the U.S. bureau of
fisheries and was in charge
of the installation of the first
fish rack in the Klamath riv
er. He served as postmaster
from 1924 until his retire
ment in 1957. Prior to that
time he was employed by Ear
hart Hardware company, now
Haight Market, and also by
the T. Jones company. For
25 years he owned and op
erated the Hornbrook Water
company,
Mr. Chapman was a mem
ber of Howard lodge, Free
and Accepted Masons in
Yreka for more than 45 years.
He also belonged to the Fed
eral Postal Employees associa
tion.
Survivors, in addition to
his wife, include three sons,
W. B. (Bill) Chapman, Lodi,
Calif.; Oliver Fick, Liver
more, Calif., and Frank Fick,
Platina, Calif.; two daugh
ters, Mrs. Madeline Burvnar,
McHome, Idaho, and Mrs.
Marilyn Dungey, Medford:
one brother, Elmer G. Chap
man, Bradenton, Fla.; and 11
grandchildren. Another broth
er, Arthur Chapman, died
several years ago.
Active pallbearers will be
Leonard Bear, Henley Claw-
son, Wayne Cummins, Frank
Graves, Floyd Burns, and
Tom Watt. Honorary pallbear
ers will be Gordon Jacbs,
Verl Walker, Medford; Frank
Bear, Lawrence Breccda, Ed
Smith and Emory Parchall.
CLEMENT A. RICKETTS
Clement Allen Ricketts, 81,
of 320 Bessie St., Medford,
died last night in a local hos
pital. Funeral services will be
held at 9 a.m. Friday in Conger-Morris
downtown chapel.
Committal will be private in
Siskiyou Memorial park.
Mr. Ricketts was born May
13, 1881, in Colton, Wash.,
and had lived in southern
Oregon for 45 years. He was
a farmer and miner.
' Survivors include two sis
ters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson,
Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Arta
Wann, San Jose, Calif.; a
brother, Oliver P. Ricketts,
Pullman, Wash. Two broth
ers, T. Melvin Ricketts and
Isaac Ricketts, and one sis
ter, Minnie Hcintz, preceded
him in death.

Mr. Welshaupl was born
July 22, 1897, at Denver,
Colo., the son of Xavicr and
Anna Weishaupl. He was mar
ried in 1926 at Longmont,
Colo., to Elsie Elizabeth Tietz.
who survives. Mr. and Mrs.
Weishaupl moved to Phoenix
from Longmont in 1950. He
has been employed as ware
houseman and clerk at Med
ford Feed and Seed for 10
years.
He is survived, besides his
wife, by a son, Charles F.
Weishaupl, Phoenix, six
brothers, Frank, Otto, Harry,
Jack, William and Joe Weis
haupl, all of Colorado; four
sisters, Mrs. Mary Wilson,
Mrs. Ann Minch, Mrs. Pauline
James, and Bertha Weishaupl
all of Colorado and several
nieces and nephews.

8, 1891, in Harvard, Nebr.
He was a veteran of World
War I, serving in the United
States Navy. He entered ser
vice Dec. 3, 1917, at Portland,
and was discharged Aug. 26,
1919, at the Great Lakes
Naval Station in Illinois.
He was a member of the
Episcopal church and had
been a resident of the VA
domiciliary, White City, since
Scot. II, 1961.
He is survived by one sis
ter, Mrs. Marie Cline, Rose
ville, Calif.

Two Local Students
On Scholarship List
Two graduates of Medford
High school are again on the
list of scholarship recipients
at Harvard university.
They are Robert E. Allen,
951 South Stage rd., in his
senior year at Harvard; and
Joel W. Gregory, 908 Murphy
rd., who is a first year stu
dent at Harvard.
Allen's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Glen V. Allen, and Greg
ory's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Harold J. Gregory.
Twenty-two students from
Oregon a&p receiving scholar
ships from Harvard this year.
Four others are receiving hon
orary scholarships, which go
to students who do not need
aid in meeting educational
costs.
Woman Injured in
Traffic Accident
A 21 -year -old Medford
woman was reported in good
condition in Rogue Valley
hospital today after she was
injured in a two-car collision
Wednesday.
Hurt was Mrs. Claudia
Dorine Cart, 21, 'of 404 Nonh
Holly st. She was a passenger
in a car driven by her hus
band, Gary Robert Cart, 21.
The Cart vehicle collided
with a Jackson county sher
iff's office car driven by
Deputy Glenn Everett Wright,
38, of 439 Haven St., about
12:29 p.m. yesterday at Fourth
end Grape sts.
Police cited Cart for dis
obeying a stop sign. Both ve
hicles received major damage,
officers said, and had to be
towed from the scene.
Atlantic Crossing
In Barrel Halted
Las Palmas, Canary Islands,
Spain -IUPD- Pedro Leon of
Cuba set out from here
Wednesday to cross the At
lantic in a barrel, bound for
his homeland.
Beside him were his pro
visions of two bottles of wa
ter, two loaves of bread and
two pounds of corn meal
He sailed two yards and
turned over twice.
Two bystanders rescued
him and two policemen took
him to a first aid station, then
two medical attendants took
him to the local psychiatric
hospital.
