WINNING ENTRY- This black and white
photograph by Miss June Hocfft won first
place in that division in the recent exhibit
by the Southern Oregon Pnotographic asso
ciation. The picture was taken along Little
Butte creek following last December's flood
and is titled, "Storm Awake." It is now in
the Public Library of Medford and Jackson
County.

son County, association offi
cers have announced.
Top honors at the show
were won by Miss Alice Saun
ders and Miss June Hocfft.
Miss Saunders placed first
In the color slide division and
also received an honorable
mention in that class. Miss
Hoefft took first with her en
try of "Storm Awake" in the
black and white division and

will be held at 8 p.m. March
21 al the Public Library of
Medford and Jackson County
The group is now on the
seventh reading of the third
year program, which includes

Pantagrucl."
So far this year, members
have read and discussed "The
Book of Job," Aeschylus'
"The Oresteia:" Thucydides'
'History of the Pcloponcsian
War;" Plato's "Symposium;
Aristotle's "Politics," and St
Thomas Aquinas' "Treatise
on Law."

who participate in the Great
Books program. The average
group is made up of 15 to 20
men and women, who meet
for two hours every other
week.

present with a total of nine

Spring Exhibition Set
The club's spring exhibition
is set for June 3 and will be
open lo any subject of the ex
hibitor's choice. Photographs
already taken can be entered,
except previous winning photographs.
A family membership plan
has been adapted by the as
sociation and will go into ef
fect June 1, officials said. Un
der this plan a savings is made
for family groups. An invita
tion is extended lo all inter
ested persons to join the club,
officers have announced.
Club members now are gath
ering 35 milimetcr slides of
winter scenes for a color slide
show to be made available to
other photogra phy clubs
throughout the world. Mem
bers arc asked by association
officers to submit original col
or slides of winter views in
southern Oregon, coastal
scenes, Klamath Falls area,
Crater lake and others.
Selected By Committee
Slides for the show will be
selected by a committee made
up of Parlier, Gerald Wollam,
Klimko and Howard Lind.
Those accepted will become
association property and those
not used will be returned to
the donor.
Mrs. Mildred Nelson has
donated a portrait photograph
she painted at the last meeting
to the assocation to be placed
in their record book.
A fall program planned will
include a demonstration by
Mrs. Dwaine Smith on heavy
oil painting.
Members have been asked
to submit news items for Ihcir
publication, "Lens Lines," to
Klimko or Mrs. Wilson.
