Roman Catholics
To Start Classes
Monday Evening
A new series of inquiry
classes for adults interested
in an Introduction to the Ro
man Catholic faith will begin
Monday, March 11, it has
been announced.
According to the Rev. G. N.
Lulay, assistant pastor of
Sacred Heart church, the first
meeting of the class will be
gin at 8 p.m. and will be held
on the second floor of St.
Mary's Grade school, 11th and
Ivy sts. It is planned to con
tinue the sessions twice week
ly until approximately June
8. Those attending will decide
which night of the week will
be most convenient for the
second class.
"Life In Christ, Instructions
in the Catholic Faith," by the
Rev. James Kilgallon and
Gerard Weber of the Chicago
diocese and first published in
19S8, will serve as the medi
um for introducing the church
to the class members. Empha
sis will be placed upon show
ing what It docs for Its follow
ers and the scriptural founda
tions of these beliefs.
All persons who would like
to learn what the Roman
Catholic church teaches and
why, are Invited to attend all
or any part of the new in
quiry class series. No in
quirer will be obligated -to
the church in any way and it
will not be necessary to reg
ister before the first meeting.

Forty Hour
Devotions Set
Forty Hours, an act of de
votion to Christ in the Blessed
Sacrament, opened in Sacred
Heart church this morning at
the 6:30 mass. Eucharlstlc ser
vices will be held at 7:30
o'clock tonight, following all
day silent prayer and mediat-
tlon before the altar by parish
ioners.
The devotion will be re
opened at 6:30 a.m. mass to
morrow and will continue
throughout the day and night
until the formal closing at the
6 a.m. Sunday mass. During
the afternoon and early even
ing hours the Catholic Daugh
tors will keep their regularly
assigned hours of vigil before
the Exposed Sacrament. .

First Christian
Subjects Noted
The Rev. Fredrick Ross
Evans will speak on "Just a
Stranger" at the morning
worship services at the First
Christian church Sunday,
At the first service the
youth choir will sing "This is
My Father's World." The
chancel choir will sing "Be
Thou My Vision," an anthem
based on an ancient Irish mel
ody, at the second service.
Mrs. Laura Livingston and
Mrs. Bill Brooks will be host
esses at the coffee hour.
The fifth session of the
Schools of World Outreach
will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The theme for study by all
groups is "The Crucial Areas
of World Outreach." The Chi
Rho Fellowship will give the
devotions at the general as
sembly.
The mid - Week Bible study
is held each Wednesday at

Fourteen members of the
youth groups and three spon
sors are leaving today for a
two - day meeting of the State
Christian Youth commission
at Lebanon.

Eugene which is from Sunday
evening until Tuesday eve
ning. The guest speaker is
Dr. Mae Yoho Ward of Indi
anapolis, Ind. who is vice
president of United Christian
Missionary society. Mr. Evans
will be one of the speakers
on the program.

Sunday, the Rev. Robert W.

parables of Jesus' Last Days.

with the parables of tha
wicked tenants which is
found in Matthew 21.
The Congregational church
will meet for church school
and worship at 11 a.m. Sun
day at Hoover Grade school
on Siskiyou blvd. The school
is the ' temporary meeting
place of the church while
plans are being made for tha
construction of a new sanc
tuary and educational unit on
