Year-Round College
Salem - (l!PD - Year-round,
four-term colleges should be
fostered in Oregon, a Joint
Ways and Means subcommit
tee was told Thursday.
The testimony was given by
George Annala of Hood Riv
er, former state representa
tive and spokesman for Ore

Annala said using college
buildings year-round would
Increase classroom use from
below 50 per cent at present
to 68 per cent.
He said if his proposal were
adopted, higher education

Coed May Seek
Football Position
Madison, Wis. - WPU - A sLf
fragette frc?hman coed at the
University of Wisconsin said
she may try out for football
quarterback next fall.
Mary Mclntyre said Thurs
day she came close to break
ing down the sex barrier of
the all-male Haresfoot Club,
a university drama group.
"I've always been a sort of
a ham and I'm a suffragette
as well. Everything else on
this campus is coed, so why
should men only be allowed
to go on tour with the Hares
foot Club?" she reasoned.
Miss Mclntyre donned dirty
sneakers and old white denim
trousers. She plastered down
her short hair and appeared
at the auditions for "Destry
Rides Again."
When she finally made
known her identity to club
members, she persuaded them
to foot the bill for a visit to
the beauty parlor.
New York - IUPII - Back in
the 1870's the most popular
sports heroes in the United
States were riflemen and
oarsmen. Scarcely anything
was written about sports
heroes In other fields.
