tivitles for the remainder of
the current school year were
made or discussed by members
of the Parents' club at their
regular meeting Thursday.
Among the plans completed
were those for Valentine room
parties to be held Thursday,
February 14, and for a Hobo
Mulligan stew party to be
held on February 23 at the
schoolhouse. This latter will
be a fund-raising event.
Tentative plans were made
for a hobby show set for an
April date, and for a style
show and a class in Beauty
Tips for girls in the eighth
grade graduating class. Mrs.

will be sponsored by the sev
enth and eighth grade classes,
as a means of raising money
for graduation projects.
The first part of May, the
Parents club will give a din
ner for the seventh and eighth
grade students and their par
ents.

meeting were Mrs. Jim Lis
key and Mrs. Steve BIoss.
Mrs. Alice Rutledge's first and
second grade room won the
Hornbrook Hornet for having
the most parents in attend
ance at the meeting. The reg
ular March meeting will be
held on Thursday, March 7.

A trip to the Holy Land
at Easter time will be the
topic of an illustrated talk by
Mrs. Karl Johnson at a meet
ing of St. Catherine's guild
Monday, February 11, at 8
p.m. in the guild hall at St.
Mark's Episcopal church.
The meeting will be con
ducted by Mrs. Ann Wirk-
kula, newly elected president.

Society Island
To Be Shown; Classes Set
Jesse Anderson, Ashland,
who made an extensive trip
by jet plane last fall to New
Zealand and Australia, will
show colored slides of the
first part of the tour called
"Through the Lens" for pro
fessional and amateur photog
raphers, on Monday, Febru
ary 11, at the Senior Activity
center starting at 1 p.m.
This show for the Arm
Chair Travelers group will
cover stops at the Society is
land group including Tahiti,
Bora Bora and Moorea, then
westward to the Fiji Islands
and south to the Isle of Pines,
New Caledonia. Trips between
islands were made by plane,
motor boat, and native outrig
ger sailboats and pictures will
be shown of native ceremoni
als, dancing, and festival
feasts.
Later in the month, Mr. An
derson will continue the show
with pictures of New Zealand
and Australia.
These weekly travel shows
are open to any senior as the
Arm Chair travel group is not
a closed group. The Senior
center, at 601 East Jackson
street, is sponsored by the
Rogue Valley Council on Ag

for the purpose of promoting
leisure time programs and
classes for all persons over 50
who wish to participate.

singers for a short program
before the group started to
sing.
Visit Nursing Home
Thursday, February 14, the
orchestra will practice from 1
to 2 p.m. as usual at the cen
ter, then will go to the Mill
edge Nursing home to play
and sing for the patients from
2 to 3 p.m.
Tuesday, February 12 from
10 a.m. to noon, the mosaic
class teacher, Mrs. Laura
Whitcher, Glendale, will be
present, There will be a dis
cussion on whether to discon
tinue the class until better
weather is assured. The last
two weeks, Mrs. Whitcher has
been unable to make the trip
due to weather conditions.
All members are to take
their finished mosaic to the
class in order to exhibit it at
the annual meeting February
21.
