asleep in a bedroom.
The mother, 33, nude ind
wrapped in a comforter, was
taken to a hospital in Deaf
born. Gostlin had let her out
of the car minutes before he
gave himself up.
j Police said Gostlin told him
the story of his night of
terror.
Girl Told Father
About 11:30 p.m. Wednes
day, they said, Gostlin told
them he went to a home in
Walled Lake where his niece,
Gloria Gostlin, 11. was baby
sitting. He raped the girl and
she ran to her home across
the street and told her father,
Gostlin's brother.
Gostlin, fearing the wrath
of his brother, broke into the
Husted home to arm himself.
Police said they believe Gos
tlin knew Husted, a school
bus driver, kept a gun in the
house.
When he entered the Hu
sted home, Husted was in a
chair and Husted's wife was
asleep on a couch. The tele
vision set was on. Gostlin at
tacked Husted with the ham
mer. Fully Clothed
Then, police said, he appar
ently killed the girl in the
kitchen. She was fully
clothed and apparently also
had been watching television.
Gostlin ripped the clothes
from Mrs. Husted and forced
her to accompany him, first
allowing her to protect her
self from the cold with a com
forter. They drove around for
more than two hours, during
which time, police said, Gosl-
