Shasta Ctntral Point It was Crater high all the way here Saturday night as the Comets of Central Point made their home court debut with their fourth basketball victory of the young season. The Comets ran over Mt. Shasta 79 to 36. It was '.he second verdict of the season for the Crater club over the Californians, whom they whipped the week before 79 to 36. Mike Glines spurred t h e Comets with his 19 points, his scoring assists and his terrific defensive play. Crater had three other players in double scoring totals as Howard Tom linson and Lou Alvarez con tributed 13 tallies each and Pat Pepper added 12. John Kennedy scored 12 for the Shastans. Paul Bransom turned in his best ball so far this season for the Comets and nabbed 16 rebounds. Tomlinson claimed 11 retrieves as the Comets controlled the boards. 14 Sea Action The visitors just were never in the game. Crater got off to a 10 to 1 jump and headed 23 to 9 at the quarter. Margins were 44 to 22 at the half and 70 to 27 after three quarters. Coach Lloyd Hoffine began running reserves into the fracas in the second quarter. St. Mary's Cagers Click To Solve Riddle 53-47 St. Mary's high evened the scare for a previous basket ball setback Saturday nisht by downing Riddle 53 to 47 here. Coach Dick Paul credited his Crusaders with jelling as a team and playing up to their potential. The Crusaders got their of fense going and hit hot from the field, making 22 of 53 field goal tries for a .415 aver age. They played good de fense. Riddle, the taller team, had the rebound edge. The ball controlling Log gers nicked Canyonville high 24 to 22 on Saturday after a Friday nod of 34 to 33 over Salem academy. Canyonville won Friday by 51 to 47 over Canyonville Bi ble academy. Coach Connie McQuerrey. who played his starting five both nights without substitut ing, termed Butte Falls' tight zone defense the big factor in the triumphs. On Saturday, the Loggers forced their tall er adversaries to do their fir ing from the outside. Played For Close Ones Offense was not clicking so well as desired in the , tour ney but the Loggers controled the ball by playing for the good close in shots. Butte Falls led by quarters 4 to 2, 10 to 6 and 16 to 15 n the title game. Neal Ellis was high scorer for the Log gers with 10 counters. Olson had nine for Canyonville. On Friday against Salem, Butte Falls pushed to a 26 to 19 third quarter margin after 5-all and 13-all knots at the other intermissions. B. Quiring had 18 points for Sa lem. Ellis had 11 for BF. McQuerrey declared that the Loggers played real good ball against competition which was stiffcr than may have been indicated by the scores.
