1.180,000 board feet of na
tional forest timber In the
Svinth Mountain select area,
Prospect Ranger district,
Rogue River National forest.
Forest Supervisor C. E.
Brown reported the high bid
total $44,139. This compares
with the Forest service ap
praised price for the timber
of $24,623 an increase of 79
per cent.
Next high bidder In the oral
auction for the timber was

The timber in this unit con
sisted of 820,000 board feet

000 board feet of white fir
and other species bid in at
$8.13 per thousand board
feet.
On Dec. 6, G & R Logging,
of Medford was high bidder
for 830,000 board feet of na
tional forest timber in the
Checkerboard area, Union
Creek Ranger district.
Brown reported the high
bid totaled $29,182.50. This
compares with the Forest
service appraised price for
the timber of $16,917, n in
crease of 72 per cent.

bid in at $6 per thousand
board feet.
In another sale the same
day, Olson-Lawyer Lumber,
Inc. was high bidder for 4,
790,000 board feet of nation
al forest timber in the River
road blowdown area, Pros
pect Ranger district.
Brown reported the high
bid totaled $174,805. This com
pares with the Forest service
appraised price for the tim
ber of $108,198, an increase
of 62 per cent.
Next high bidder in the
oral auction for the timber
was S & W Logging. Prospect.
Other bidders were Fir-Ply,
Inc., Kogap Manufacturing
company, McGrew Brothers,
Stomar Lumber company. The
timber in this unit consisted
of 2.720,000 board feet of
Douglas-fir bid in at $36 oer
