Suede Popular in
Casual Wear
The secret of Santa's suc
cess with men is a gift that
spells good taste and good liv
ing. A leather jacket or coat
fits the gift formula to a "T."
This season soft suede,
smooth and lightly grained
leathers take over in men's
casual fashions. Masculine,
yet smart and bright as win
ter sports clothes, lightweight
leather garments are tops in
style, versatile In the ward
robe and easy on your gift
budget..
For the sports car enthusi
ast, there are tapered Jackets
with broad comfortable shoul
ders, designed for free wheel
ing. In creamy tan, rich stag
or jet black, a trim leather car
coat puts the spotlight on its
wearer.
One of the newest car coats
of smooth, soil-resistant leath
er, has a yoke - like effect
across the chest In which are
set the opening to two neat
ly set breast pockets one
for cigarettes, the other for
wallet. Another leather
sports jacket features conven
ient pockets on the sleeves
to hold coins for toll collectors
and a pen to jot down impor
tant numbers or notes. Self
leather buttons and a collar
tab close the coat against
brisk winds.
There are few garments as
mobile and unhampering as
a leather - and - knit jacket.
Available in light knits com
bined with smooth, grained
or suede leather, these jack
els are seen in black, taupe
and natural deerskin colors
that highlight tweed, worsted
and cheviot slacks. Knit in
sets under arms and on cuffs
and waistbands either match
or contrast.
That suede, he loves to
touch, is found this year in
everything from a casual
three - button sack jacket
appropriate for both city and
suburban streets to a wind
breaker that combines mascu
line smartness with weather
wise practicality.
