BUTTONS FROM MONACO When students at St. Mary's
grade school conducted a button drive last winter and
spring, Pat Brusha, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Brusha of
Hopkins rd., Central Point, wrote to Princess Grace of
Monaco asking for any buttons she might wish to con
tribute. Recently he, received a package from Monaco with
the above buttons enclosed. Another button drive will be
held at the school this winter. Mounted on cards, the bu
tons will then be sold at the B&B auction by auctioneer
O. J. Brenner to raise funds for the school.

stock -the only shares not
owned by the company-were
auctioned for $825.
The stocks had a book val
ue of S10 a share, or a total
book value of $75.
R. K. Timothy, Mountain
States Telephone Co.. Boise,
Idaho, finally won ownership
of the shares by bidding $110
a share.
"We don't want these stocks
out," was all he said.
Wanted To See Value
Bidding against Timothy
was Al Denbowskl of Dallas.
He quit bidding at $107.50 a
share.
"I just wanted to see what
they were worth," he com
mented after the bidding
closed.
The bidding for the stock
opened at $5 a share, and
soon skyrocketed to the point
where only Timothy and Den
bowski were bidding.

took the bidding up in $2.50
steps as Timothy and Den
bowski took turns at upping
the price. '
More than 100 persons were
in rooms 6 and 7 of the Slate
house Tuesday morning. Golf
clubs, tea serving sets, jewel
ery and stocks were among
tne items being sold.
The Auction of more than
300 items continued through
out the day.

red shirt and tan pants and
hat, enticed the prospective
buyers with a sing-song chant

for $4, another for $20. Ear
rings went for $2. A pin was
sold for $1.

Accused Killer
Sent To Hospital
Salem - Writ - Edward W.
Sheckler, 27, was in the Slate
Hospital here today after a
Condon court Monday ruled
him incapable of standing
trial on charges of killing a
slate policeman.
Sheckler was accused of
slaying Slate Parolman
Ralph Bates of Mcdtord near
Arlington a few weeks ago.
Bates was found shot to
death on the highway.
Sheckler, carrying a gun.
was arrested a few hours
later. He was charged with
the slaying but denied it.
Sheckler, who has spent
time in a state hospital be
fore, appeared in Circuit
Court at Condon Monday.
Two psychiatrists testified he
w?' unable to assist in his
own defense or to recognize
the charges against him. .
Judge E. H. Howell ordered
him committed to the State
Hospital until he is able to
stand trial.
