acres, more or less, within Sections

4 E., W.M.. surveyed, in the Rogue
River National Forest. Jackson
County, Oregon. The estimated vol
umes are: 5.130 M board feet of
Douglas-fir; 030 M board feet of
ponaeroHa pine. Jeffrey pine, sugar
pine, and western white pine;
3.3B0 M board feet of white fir and
other spL-ies. The minimum ac
ceptable bid per M board feet Is a
follows: Douglas-fir $13.30; pon

Douglas-fir, $12.84 per M board
feet; ponderosa pine. Jeffrey pine,
sugar pine, and western white
pine. $4.83 per M board feet; and
white fir and other species. $3.42
per M board feet. Amortization of
estimated main haul road costs is
computed on 80 percent of the est
(mated timber volume. The prices
bid for stumpage shall be consid
ered as tentative rates subject to
quarterly calendar adjustment up
ward or downward by 0.5 of the
difference between the average of
the monthly Douglas-fir Region In
dices, as calculated by the Forest
Service, or the Western Pine Asso
ciation Lumber Price Index for the
three previous months, and the
following base indices: Douglas-fir
111.23(Dl; ponderosa pine, Jeffrey
pine, sugar pine, and western
white pine 84.03; white fir and
other species 92.98(A). Such ad
justments in the price fur stump
age shall be applicable to timber
scaled during the three-months
period following the quarter for
which adjustment is computed. In
no event, however, nnal) the pay
ment rates for each quarter fie
lens than the base rales as stated
above. When the adjusted rates by
species are lower than the base
rates, the difference between the
total dollar value of the timber
cut at adjusted rates and at ba.se
rates will be recorded for each
species. The stumpage rBte for any
species will not be increased above
the base rate until the subsequent
adjusted rates above the hase rate
for all species develop an accumu
lated total dollar value In excess
of the recorded accumulated dif
ference for all species. Sealed bids
will be publicly opened and posted
at the office of the Forest Super
visor, Mcdford. Oregon, at 10:30
A.M., on Janunry 2. 1963. All those
who submitted a satisfactory sealed
bid will he permitted immediately
to continue auction bidding. A

$5,300.00 must accompany each bid
to be applied to the purchase price,
refunded or retained for applica
tion to any claim for damages, ac
