in two production numbers
on "The Danny Kaye Show"
tonight at 9 p.m. on KMKD
TV. According to her aunt and
uncle, Mr. and Mrs. S. P.
Cully, who reside at 517 Bes
sie St., Miss Shore started
dancing when she was 4 years
old, studying with a Medford
teacher and later in Grants
Pass, before going to Hollywood.

"they merged in a shower of
sparks and laughter that con

LIFESAVER DIES - Mrs. W.
F. Cross, 78, who helped foil
an attempt on President-elect
Franklin Roosevelt's life in
1933, was buried the same day
as Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt.
Roosevelt's widow. Mrs. Cross
died in St. Petersburg, Fla.
At Bayfront park in Miami,
Feb. 15. 1933, a man named
Guiscppe Zangara began
shooting at FDR when the lat
ter was making a speech, but
Mrs. Cross grabbed his arm

Deputies Arrest Two
Juveniles for Theft
The Jackson county sher
iff's office have arrested two
15-year-old Yrcka juveniles on
charges of car theft.
The two boys had skipped
school in Yrcka Wednesday,
found a car at the north end
of Yrcka with the window
rolled down and the keys In
the ignition.
A sheriff's deputy slopped
them for questioning Thurs
day in Ashland then took
them to the courthouse for
further questioning when
their answers were not satis
factory. They were turned
over to the county Juvenile
authorities Friday.
The Public Library of Med
ford and Jackson county will
observe National Children's
Book week, Nov. 11 to 17. as
will oiher libraries in the
Rogue valley and throughout
the United States.
It is a week dedicated to
recognizing the importance of
reading for boys and girls, ac
cording to Omar Bacon, li
brarian. The week originated
with the Buy Scout librarian
in 1919. People interested in
children have promoted the
week on both the local and
national level. All the
libraries in the county will
observe the week with special
displays and an abundance of
new books.
The children's department
of the Medford headquarters
library will have many new
books on display for the oc
casion, as well as many
award-winning books from
former years that are still fa
vorites of children. Any of
these books will be available
for circulation.
The regular weekly pre
school story hour will mark
the beginning of Book week
activities on Tuesday. Novem
ber 13 at 10 a.m. with Mrs.
H. H. Bresce as the story
teller. Special class visits
have been scheduled during
the ret of the week, when
students will have an oppor
tunity to examine and select
books of special interest to
them.
Adults as well as children
are invilcd to visit the li
brary, and parents will find
many books suitable for holi
day giving. Special displays of
winners of the Ncwbry, Cal-
decott and Young Readers'
Choice award books will offer
suggestions to families for
winter "read-aloud" evenings.
