St. Mary's High school stu
dents, along with all Catholic
students throughout the na
tion, observed All Saints Day
Nov. 1. The school was closed
and students were required to
attend mass on the Holy Dsy
of obligation. The day is a
feast held to commemorate all
sainls who do not have a
feast day of their own.
The school's Annual staff
has reached the height of its
drive, which has been in prog
ress for some weeks, to get ads
for the yearbook. The commit
inos have been working on
several projects, one of which
was collecting subscriptions.
This drive was completed in
October.
This is St. Mary's most suc
cessful year for subscriptions
as 87 per cent of the students
ordered annuals. I percentage

staff has also been working on
the theme and cover design
for the 1963 yearbook.
Gamma Sigma Gamma, i
rhnnl service organization
held its first meeting October
20. A project to buy records to
play over the intercom during
noon hour was voted on and
accepted by the members.
They will sponsor a dance to
supply the funds needed for
the records.
The Rev. William McLcod
spoke to Sodalists on mental
prayer at the Sodality meet
ing recently. Probation sodal
ists also attended this general
meeting.
The purpose of Father Mo
Leod's talk was to encourage
and help the members of So
dality in any way possible to
fulfill their obligation of men
tal prayer each day. He also
answered the questions put to
him by the audience.
Eagle Point High
Teresa Pruett and Karyl
Bishop were named Septem
ber and October "Girls of the
Month," respectively. These
selections, based on citizen
ship, service to the Eagle
Point High school, altitude
and scholarship, are made by
the Pep club.
Mrs. C. B. Bates, advisor Ho
the Pep club, indicated that a
"Girl of the Year" will be
selected at the end of the
school year from among the
monthly selections.
Joan Konopasek was crown
ed queen of the homecoming.
The other princess candidates
were Kathy Murphy, Kay
Thurman and Shannon Mat
thews. Joan represented the
Junior class, whose float "The
Passing of Many Moons" also
won first prize.
Donna Gcren was elected
state president of the Girls'
Athletic association at Clack
amas High school state GAA
convention, held Oct. 27. Pat
Beacham of EPIIS was elected
state treasurer of the organ
