Wanted for Bank

of a vicious bank robbery

ades when the FBI closed in
on him.
But instead of shooting it
out, Nussbaum decided on
jiuicide and gulped a lethal
docs of drugs. A stomach
pump quickly nullified his at
tempt to tane nis own mc.
Nussbaum, one of the FBI's
ten most wanted men, was
cornered Sunday by federal
agents after a high-speed chase
through Buffalo's streets.
The expert gunsmith whose
mail-order munitions business
led to bank robberies carried
off like military maneuvers,
was to be arraigned today on
charges involving four bank
robberies in Buffalo, Brooklyn
and Washington D.C. that net-

The search for Nussbaum
! began in Brooklyn last De
cember shortly after the
$34,000 hold up of Brooklyn's
LaFayelte National Bank in
which guard Henry Kraus, 52,
was killed.
It ended in his home town
II months later when FBI
agents spotted him and re
portedly set a trap using Nuss
baum's wife. Alice, 25, as a
decoy. Mrs. Nussbaum feared
her husband might go off on
a new job with his pal, one
eyed Rendell Wilcoxson, 33,
Dclray Beach. Fla.
An authoritative source told
the Buffalo Courier-Express
that Nussbaum s mother-nv
law, Mrs. Sylvester Majchoro-
wicz, was the person who no
tified FBI agents that the fug
itive was in the Buffalo area.
Wilcoxson, the alleged ma
chine gun killer of Kraus, is
wanted by the FBI along with
his girl friend, Jacqueline
Rose, 18.
Mrs. Nussbaum said Wilcox
son is "evil and it's dangerous
to be with him."
Convicted in 1957
Described by the FBI as the
"highly intelligent" brains of
a vicious gang" of bank rob
bers, Nussbaum was convicted
on a charge of possessing a
machine gun In 1957. He
served three years at the
Chillicolhe, Ohio, Federal
Prison, where he met Wilcox
son. Both his wile and Robert
Ward, a business associate,
said Nussbaum built his gun-
collecting pastime into a prof
itable private arsenal.
One of those who received
weapons, Mrs. Nussbaum and
Ward believe, was Fidel
Castro's revolutionary band.
According to Ward, who had
made Nussbaum a partner in
his wrought iron shop in 1960,
Nussbaum would collect small
hatches of weapons, assemble
lHrge shipments and send them
to California for transfer to
Mexico and other destinations.

luneful compositions brought
a rare hour of pleasure into
our homes.
Elaborate sets were unnec
essary. These are TV tricks
to bolster indifferent talents.
Accomplished performers and
good music can stand alone.

Powers Takes Test Job With Lockheed

cis Gary Powers, the 112 nitnt
shot down over Russia in 1960,
has resigned from the Central
intelligence agency and taken
a "routine test pilot job" with
Lockheed Aircraft.
Powers' resignation was an
nounced Saturday in Washing,
ton. A Lockheed spokesman
here said the 33-year-old test
pilot started work for the
company shortly after his res
ignation from the CIA.
"It's strictly a routine test
pilot job only with U2s,"
said the Lockheed spokesman.
