'Prenatal Care' To
Be Program Topic

cording to Mrs. C. Ivan Bur
ton, program moderator.
Three obstetricians and
gynecologists make up the
panel whose topic this after
noon will be "Prenatal Care".
Dr. Otto H. Emig, Dr. Charles
J. Walstrom, and Dr. John R.
McLaughlin will discuss Ihc
importance of good prenatal
care, noting some of the more
common problems that occur
during pregnancy.
Influenza Tops List
Of Area's Diseases
Influenza continued at the
lop of the list of communi
cable diseases reported to the
Jackson county public health
department.
Dr. A. Erin Mcrkcl, public
health officer, noted last
week 17 flu cases were re
ported in Medford, six in
Central Point, five from Ash
land, and three from Jackson
villc.
Measles placed second
with seven eases from Ash
land and three froift Talent.
Medford also reported one
case each, of whooping coush,
pneumonia, infectious hepa
titis, meningitis and infec
tious mononucleosis. One
ease of gonorrhea was report
ed in the county and one case
of amoebic dysentery in Tal
ent. Medford reported three
cases of German measles and
Talent three case?.
Eagles Lodge To I

Order of Eagles, to assist in j
the support of an Eaule House,
which will be established in '
Turkey. I

by the Eagles lodge, will give
youngsters in that country an
opportunity to learn a trade
and become self supporting.
It will be named the Wil
liam G. Watson Memorial
workshop honoring the mem
ory of the Ohio man who was
grand secretary when he died
in May. It will he established
in cooperation wilh CARE, in
ternational voluntary relief
agency.
The E.igle -CARE trade
school will he located in Nigde
to train electricians. Teachers
will be provided by the Tur
kish ministry of education.
A chairman for the local
aerie for the project is expect
ed to be appointed soon and a
program formulated to raise
money for the project, it was
reported.

Pancake Supper
Planned Thursday
Tiie Medford Lions club is
sponsoring a pancake supper
Thursday, Nov. 1, at Hcdrick
Junior High school to benefit
the club's sight conservation
program and youth activities
in the area.
The supper will be held
from 5 to 8 p.m. and will in
clude pancakes, sausages,
eggs, milk and coffee. Enter
tainment will be provided
throughout the evening.
Two prices will be charged
-one for adults and the other
for children under 12.
