Adoplion Law '
Overhaul Proposed
Salem -ITO- Gov. Mark Hat
field has urged an overhaul of
Oregon adoplion laws.
He withheld specific recom
mendations, pending comple
tion of a review of two stud
ies - one by the Governor's
Conference on Children and
Youth, and the other by the
Legislative Fiscal Committee.
Hatfield said he is giving
particular attention to laws
pertaining to adoption of or
phaned, abandoned and other
children on welfare.
He noted the legislature pre
viously authorized the wel
fare commission to put up for
adoption certain children who
otherwise would remain un
der welfare foster home care
until maturity.
