Grange News The golden anniversary of Mr. and Mrg. Carl Riblett was honored at the September meeting of the Lake Creek Grange. Music wag played and sung for the occasion with Mrs. Kent Stover and Leland M. Charley the musicians. A gift from the members was presented to the couple. During the refreshment hour a cake wag cut first by Mrs. Riblett and then by Mr. Rib lett. During the business session reports were given by the dif ferent committees. Kent Stover reported on attending an auction sale In Medford. He stated that cattle buyers were present from Chicago, III. The strike has caused a shortage of livestock. Loyd George, legislative committee, reported on some of the recent bills that have been aigned by President Ken nedy. Nora Bradshaw, home econ omics club chairman, reported on the check sent to the Grange for sales slips sent to the state grange last month, It was voted to send $5 to the National Grange for the Youth Grange program. Loyd and Faye G e o rg e brought watermelons from their garden for the refresh ment hour. They also brought tomatoes which were sold, the money added to the treas ury. The next Grange meeting will be held on Oct. 12 at 8:30 p.m. There was to be a meeting of the building committee at the Kee home. Those on the building committee are Ed Houston, Don Harper, Neil I P Dusenberry. Cecil Kee, Travis ! I Littlefield, Madeline Wells re4 and Minor. The meeting was closed and I 1 the rest of the evening was used for square dance instruc tion under Bob Glather. There were 12 couples taking les sons. Those wishing to join these square dance lessons are to contact lecturer Cecil Kee. The next Grange meeting will be Oct. 8. The next HEC meeting will be Oct. 9 at the Langio home on Butte Creek. Strange As It Seems y w h The Shady Cove Grange met Saturday at the Shady Cove school gym with Master Johnnie Minor presiding. Edward Houston reported on visiting different Grange halls for size, floor space and other details needed for build ing a Grange hall. A resolution was read and passed-on to be read at the next Pomona meeting. Returned to Medford from Bend was James Smith, Eagle Point. Smith had been hospi talised in St. Charles hospital since Sept. 8 when he was in volved in an accident while riding his motorcycle near Madras. Also brought to Med ford was Mr. Celestia Coe, 94, of Myrtle Point. Taken to Portland to the University of Oregon hospital for medical treatment Mon day was Gail Buffington, route 2, box 108, Jacksonville. Marie Anderson was flown to Redlands, Calif., from Mt. Shasta, Calif., where she suf fered t broken back in a one car accident. Oregon Forgery Suspect Arrested Newark, N.J. - fUPD - A sus pected forger wanted In Ore gon and Washington State has been arrested In a room ing house by the FBI. Kenneth W. Eidurn, 38, Beavcrton, Ore., was seized on a fugitive warrant issued by Portland, Ore., authorities. It accused Eidum of fleeing the state to avoid prosecution for allegedly passing a bogus check. The FBI said Eidum, mar- j ried and the father of three ! children, also is sought by po lice in Spokane, Wash., for passing a number of forged checks. The suspect was employed as a truck driver for a Union, ; N.J., paint company at the time of his arrest, authorities i said. He was lodged In the city jail pending arraignment and extradition.
