OREGON Louis-Diirno Ceremony The marriage of Miss Kaye Elizabeth Durno to Ronald Alan Louis, held Saturday, September 8, at First Pres byterian church, was one of the largest weddings of late summer here. The bride is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ed win Russell Durno, 2512 East Main street, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Louis, Lafay ette, Calif. Dr. D. Kirkland West, pas tor of the church, read the marriage ceremony at four o'clock in the afternoon and the reception which followed was at the family home. About 200 guests attended. The bride's gown was of while candlelight peau de soie made with scooped neck line and elbow-length sleeves. The belled skirt ended in a chapel-length train. Her long veil of Brussels lace, held by a peau de soie wedding ring headdress, had been brought from Belgium by her parents and was worn by both her sis ters at their weddings. The bride carried stcphanotis cen tered with a yellow-throated white orchid on a Bible. Mrs. Richard F. Henslcy was matron-of-honor for her sister and the other attend ants were Mrs. Brian D Stringer, another sister of the bride, and Miss Johneva Pond Berkeley, Calif. They wore gowns of periwinkle blue im ported silk organza fashioned with long peplums, and head dresses of veiling trimmed with small bows. Their flow crs were white Fuji chrysan themums. Two Flower Girls The Hensley's two daugh ters, Jennifer and Jayne, were flower girls for their aunt Their frocks were of light blue organdy and they car ried white satin cups from which they scattered blue petals. Dr. Durno escorted his daughter and gave her In marriage. Vernon E. Louis, Orinda, Calif., served as best man for his brother and ush ers were Robert C. McGlin ehey, San Francisco; John R. Welland, Orinda Mr. Hcnsley and Dr. Stringer, brothers-in-law of the bride. Gregory Louis; the bride groom's nephew, was a junior usher, and small Randall Louis, another nephew, car ried the rings. White gladioli and dahlias from the Earl Bostwick's gar den and arranged by Mrs. Raymond Miksche decorated the Durno home for the re ception. Miss Bcngtson Is a gradu ate of Medford High school and attended Southern Ore gon college. She plans to en roll in Robertson's School of Business this fall, . ... Bender and Mrs. Maclcod Maurice. Mrs. Vernon E. Louis, Orinda, took charge of the guest book. Parlies Given Dr. and Mrs. Stringer were hosts for a luncheon at their home, 33 South Modoc ave nue, before the ceremony, for out-of-town guests and the bridal party. The bride groom's parents were hosts for a rehearsal dinner given the evening before at the Hensley home, 2511 Hillcrest road. Mrs. Ernest Barnes ar ranged flowers for the dinner. In Medford for the wed ding in addition to the bride groom's parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Macchlman and Mr. and Mrs. L. R. O'Connor, aunts of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Albert D. Fragley, Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Bar bcra, the Misses Barbara Hud son, Nancy Fuller, Loretta Julias, Joan Santi, Gail Gray and Lanila Nelson, Harry Hemrick, Larry Brown, Rich ard Malsner, and Carmine Sena. All are from California. The bride was born and reared in Medford. Her fa ther, in addition to being a Parties Honor Miss Hubbard; Rites Yesterday In recent days several ad ditional parties have bceen given for Miss Sandra Hub bard, whose wedding to Thom as Ambrose GafXncy Jr., was set for yesterday afternoon at Sacred Heart church. A bridal luncheon was giv en for Miss Hubbard on Thurs day, September 12, by Mrs. Robert Fry, 432 Ardmore ave nue. Pink and white umbrellas and pink rosebud floral ar rangements decorated the liv ing room and bridal table. Miss Hubbard was presented gifts for the kitchen. Those attending were Mis. Hubbard and her vniimrer daughter Susan, Mrs. Jack T. Walker, aunt of the bride, Mrs. Jay Walker, Mrs. Ray Frisbie. Mrs. Robert Clark Mrs. Milo Kubalek, Mrs. Lou ise Hartley. Mrs. Albert Puhl. Mrs. Bert C. Buffington, Mrs. Joe Francis, and Mrs. David Shaffer. The fireplace was decorated with a large bride doll, bells and pink roses. The bride's table was centered with gold scales holding flowers, and the i smaller tables held pink and 1 blue china scales filled with , blossoms. ! Wednesday night Mr. and Mrs Bruce Bauer gave a din ner at their home, Villa Rogue apartments, Siskiyou boule vard, for Miss Hubbard, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hubbard and her sister, Sus an tllr C.af(ntv nnri hi mnth. Mr. and Mrs. Bauer, who j lived for many years In San Carlos, Calif., have returned to Medford to make their home. College Students In San Francisco Eagle Point Attending a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Iolanthe" by the D'Oyly Carte Opera com pany was among the aclivi lies of Miss Lana McGraw and Miss Mary Gregg, who have just returned from sev eral days spent In San Fran cisco. Their stay also Includ ed city tours, sightseeing and shopping. Miss McGraw will return to Ihc University of Oregon as a junior, an English major in secondary education. Miss Gregg will continue as a jun ior at Southern Oregon col lege in elementary education. Visit Parents Gold Hill Dr. and Mrs R. L. The bride, who holds a bachelor degree from the Uni versity of Oregon, is a mem ber of Delta Gamma sorority. She has been making her home in Berkeley, Calif., and is on the teaching staff of the Walnut Creek school dis trict. The bridegroom, who re ceived both his bachelor and master degrees from Stanford university, is a district super visor for Louis Stores, Inc His father is president of the forty-unit retail food chain of the San Francisco Bay area. the bridegrooms social fra ternity is Phi Sigma Kappa. The newlyweds will live at 3785 Highland road, Lafay ette. For traveling after the wedding -reception, the bride wore a knit jacket dress of royal blue and black acces sories. Miss Barnes, a daughter of Mrs. Russell G. Barnes, 2210 Hillcrest road, was graduated from Medford High school in June. According to a release from the college, Miss Barnes has been designated a Pendleton scholar in "recognition of her outstanding secondary school preparation for college work." The scholarship was named for a former president of Wellesley. Miss Barnes will take part in Freshman Week activities which open today for the 480 first year students. They will have an orientation program and will meet Miss Margaret Clapp, president of the col lege. In high school Miss Barnes was a member of Internation al Relations league, Torch Honors society, the German club and the Young Republi can's club. She will study science. The student left Medford by plane and was joined in San Francisco by Miss Jane Block, Klamath Falls, another Wellesley student. Miss Barnes' aunt, Mrs. Frank Grundy Jr., lives In Wel lesley. Student Enrolls In Bible College Miss Patricia Goltz, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Goltz, 1532 Stratford avenue, has left Medford to enroll in Multnomah Bible college in Portland. Miss Goltz is a member of the state cabinet for Conservative Baptist Youth of Oregon and serves as corresponding secretary. A 1962 graduate of Medford High school, she will major in Christian education. Holiday Rites Planned by Pair The engagement of Miss Darlene Hvall to Keith Gar ner has been announced by the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Hvall, 2555 Connell avenue, Medford. The bridegroom-elect is a son of Edgar Garner, Weiser, Ida., and the late Mrs. Garner. Miss Hvall, a stewardess for West Coast airlines, attended Grants Pass High school and previously was employed by General Electric Supply and General .Motors Acceptance corporation of Medford. As a stewardess she flies from Boise, Ida., to Great Falls, Mont. Her fiance Ls associated with the International Har vester company. Nchonot l.d Cou NORF 221 East Main Street "Southern Oregon's Oldest Shoe Lively Rogues First Dance of The Lively Rogues will hold the first dinner dance of the fall season at the Rogue Valley Country club on Thurs day, September 20, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Host couples for the evening will be the offi cers of the club, Mr. and Mrs. John Graff, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Blew and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver P. Taylor. They are planning a "Back to School" theme for decorations. The Lively Rogues Dance club was organized on New Year's Eve of 1935 by Mr. and Mrs, W. A. Holloway, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Brooks. Mr. Brooks became the first president of the club which had about 60 couples as char ter members. Mrs. George C. Wimer re calls that for several years the club met in the Pythian hall for dancing with refresh ments served lale in the eve ning. The club then met for a time at Chalker's on the Rogue river and it was at this time that they added the dinner to the club schedule. During the war the club was inactive but was reorganized in 1946 with dances being held in Ashland for some time. For the past several years the monthly dinner Californians Visitors Here; Son Is Guest Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gray, Cherry lane, this week end are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Markofer, Elk Grove, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray and son John, Portland, were recent visitors at the home of his parents. While the younger Grays were in the valley, Miss Marjorie Donk, a sister of Mrs. Gray, arrived from Cohoes, N. Y. Miss Donk is a scholarship student to the University of California, where her special ty is political sciences, and her major is Hindi languages. While at the university she will study toward her masters degree. The guests were entertained while here with an evening buffet party.
