Hills boro. A June wedding is plan ned by the couple. Miss Lewis was graduated from Ashland High schojl in 1961 and has been a student at the University of Oregon during her freshman year. She will enter Portland Slate college this fall and the fol lowing year will return to the university at Eugene. Her fiance attended Willamette university and the University of Oregon and is employed at one of the U.S. National Banks of Portland under the bank scholarship one-the-job train ing program. He is an eco nomics major and will receive his degree next year. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn H. Kel so, 220 Patrick lane, and the i parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Champion, 2435 West McAndrews road, Medford. The Rev. James Sinclair read the double ring ceremony before about 15 guests. It was performed at 7:30 o'clock in the evening. Mrs. Sinclair played the or gan wedding music. The bride chose a ballerina length satin gown fashioned with scoop neck, sequined bodice, and full skirt. Her short bouffant veil was held by a white tiara. Miss Alberta Nelson attend ed the bride. She wore a pink suit and white accessories. r,onald Tipton was best ".ian. For a wedding trip to Los Angeles, the bride chose green and white suit worn with white accessories and a while carnation corsage. The couple returned to their home at 40 Granlie street, Ashland Saturday. The bride is a graduate of Ashland High school. She is employed by Cascade M D Products, Inc., in Ashland. Mr. Champion is a graduate of Medford High school, and is employed by the Big Y Market in Medford. Louis Clayson Sings in Opera Ashland-Louis Clayson, for mer voice instructor at South ern Oregon college, and re gional winner of the San Fran cisco Opera debut auditions, recently appeared as Rinuccio in Puccini's opera, "Gianni Schicchi." The opera was performed at the Paul Massnn vineyards in Saratoga, Calif., and was sponsored by the Merola me morial fund opera program. Californians Are ! A Recently Married, Students Make Home in Los Angeles Mr. and Mrs. Larry Keith Wright traveled to Los Ange les after their wedding, and both will attend colleges this fall. The couple were married Friday, August 26, at Berean Baptist church in While City. The bride is the former Emma Carolyn Hart, and is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl D. Hart, Highway 238, Applegate. Mr. Wright's par ents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wright, Leonard road, Grants Pass. The Rev. Allen Hill per formed the double ring cere mony at 8 o'clock in the morning. The rites were at tended by close friends and relatives of the couple. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a three-piece white brocade suit, designed with cropped jacket and three-q u a r t e r length sleeves. She wore a -.vhite fur cossack hat. and carried a white orchid en circled by pink rosebuds and lilies of the valley. Mrs. Edward Allen, Ash land, a sister of the bride, lighted the candles. For the ceremony and the wedding breakfast which fol lowed at the Mark Antony hotel in Ashland, the bride's mother wore a dove grey sheath frock of linen and matching jacket. Mrs. Wright chose a jacket dress of raw silk in a blue and cream col ored pattern. Both wore white aster corsages. Since Mrs. Ada Rodgers, grandmother of the bride, was unable to attend the wedding, the newly wed couple visited her at her heme following the ceremony and presented her with a cor sage of white asters. The bride was graduated from Medford High school in 1962. She was a member of Berean Baptist church, and also of Job's Daughters in Shady Cove. The bridegroom, a 1962 graduate of Grants Pass High school, has been associated with his father in operating the family Hereford Callle ranch in Grants Pass. In Los Angeles the bride will study to be a dental as sistant. The bridegroom plans to attend Woodbury college, where he will major in ac counting and business admin istration. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored at a luncheon, given at Stanley's restaurant. Hostesses were the Misses Jacqueline and Judith Ayres, Deanna Kun kel, Elva Bratton, and Gloria Alexander. The luncheon parly then drove to the home of Mrs. Glenn Hoist, 1117 Mt. Pitt avenue, where the bride was honored at a surprise bridal shower. Mrs. Hoist is an aunt of the bride. E hageman, Raymond, Wash., j announce the engagement of their daughter, Leona Lor raine Hageman, 349 South Mountain street, Ashland, to Doyle Homer Bransom. Mr. Bransom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Bransom, Route 1, Box 57, Central Point. Miss Hageman was graduat ed from Raymond High school and Southern Oregon college. She also attended Grays Har bor college, Aberdeen, Wash. While a student at Southern Oregon college she was home coming princess and a mem ber of Delia Phi Alpha, mgsic honor society. She will teach fourth grade at Walker school in Ashland during the 1962-63 school year. Mr. Bransom, a graduate of Crater High school, is a sen ior sludent at Southern Ore gon college. Wattenburg on Alta Vista road. The meeting will open with a dessert luncheon at 1 p.m. with Mrs. W. E. Davies as co-hostess. Members are asked to answer roll call with the name of a native plant they have growing in their garden. All women new to the area who are interested in cooper ating with other members to carry out the objectives of the club in conservation of native trees, shrubs, flowers and birds, gardening their own home grounds are invited to be special guests. Plans to tour the Dahack Flower gardens above Trail on September 12 will be made. The Eagle Point Garden club is a member of the Ore gon Federation of Garden Clubs and meets the first Wednesday of each month in members' homes, starting with a dessert luncheon at 1 p.m. Year's Program Included in the planned pro gramming for the coming year are exhibits and arrangements of late summer flowers in Oc tober; a workshop in prepara tion for their annual Christ mas show in both November and December; house plants in January; Richfield movie on Wild Fiowers in February; interpretation of a flower schedule in March; flower show planning in April; Mush rooms in May; Roses - their care and grooming in .Tunc; and a lour of the Ashland park in July combined with a picnic. Students Entertain For Benefit Group; Invitation Extended Students from the Thurs ton Dance studio furnished entertainment during the weekly meeting Wednesday, August 29 for members of the Security Benefit club of Med ford. Mc Donaid, whose marriage was an event of last June in Po mona, Calif., were honored at a reception recently given by the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira McDonald, at the Medford Free Methodist church. About 100 persons at tended. The bride Is the former Miss Annabclle Ross, daugh ter of the Rev. and Mrs. James Ross of Clarcmont, Calif. The reception hall was dec orated with orange colored gladioli and orange colored rosebuds. Pouring were Mrs. Loda Boon, aunt of the bridegroom, Mrs. Ira W. McDonald of Stockton, Calif., a sisler-in-law of the bridegroom, and Mrs Roland Johnson. Miss Grace Andrewj cut the cake and Mrs. Gus Boen was in charge of registering the guests. The booklet, pre pared by Girl Scouts of Med ford, Mass., was brought here recently by Mrs. Charles Hobbs of the Massachusetts city. Mrs. Hobbs, a troop com mittee member in the eastern city, formerly led a troop, with the girls going through the ranks to take their curved bar awards. Mrs. Hobbs was in the Rogue valley to visit a long-time friend, Mrs. W. E. Morrison. 1090 East Pine street, Central Point. Both taught in North Dakota as young women, and Mrs. Mor rison now teaches at Jewctt school. The visitors made a trip to the House of Mystery, Gold Hill, while in the val ley. Mrs. Hobhs stated that the booklet had been designed and compiled by Intermediate Scouts of the Girl Scouts of Medford, Mass., council. It is a history of their city, located near Boston, with a popula tion of almost 70,000. The booklet was part of the coun cil's celebration of the 50th anniversary of Girl Scouting. Mrs. Hobbs said that Girl Scouts in her city are told about Medford, Ore., and that it was founded by former residents of the Massachusetts city.
