Mrs. John Ness (right), is chairman of the group which studies antiques, and Mrs. Emerson Anderson, her resource assistant, is pic tured with her. The women meet the second Tuesday of each month. 1 -V E r Contemporary works or literature of the past are studied in the Book Review group, headed by Mrs. William Cousineau. The women of this unit meet the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Calvin Smith (at left), branch president, and Mrs. Alan Markee, interest group .coordinator, announced the study program for the coming year. The branch, one of the largest and most active organizations for women in the city, holds a general meeting and program once a month. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Markee invite women interested in any of the groups to call Mrs. Markee. Mrs. Everett Lasher (right) is chairman of the Applied Arts group which meets every fourth Monday evening, and Mrs. Vernon Gebhard (center) heads another unit which meets every third Wednesday morning to study applied arts. Last year Mrs. A. J. Johannson (left) made the decorative wall hanging she holds; the motifs made from bits of colored glass in various colors are mounted on a piece of pol ished wood. A small fee entitles any interested woman to study with one or more groups. . ' ! ' d Ji : , 6 14 . ,4VS.lfc Appreciation of the fine arts is the interest of another group, and heading it this year is Mrs. Dan Doty, one of the newer members of the branch. These women will meet the fourth Thursday of each month at 8 p.m. for programs on art, music, sculpture and related topics. The first study units were organized by AAUW In 1936. i " : rZCXr The international relations study group, one of the oldest units in the program, was started in 1937 and Mrs. Justin Smith (right), has been the chairman every year since organiiation. This unit meets the first and third Monday of each month. Mrs. Bruce Nelson, pictured with Mrs. Smith, heads the Great Decis ions unit which meets for eight weeks in February and March. Complete information about the various groups and their programs will be available at the AAUW annual fall tea to be held Saturday, September 8, at the home of Mrs. William S. Cobb, 42 South Barneburg road. , .1 Because of the Oregon Shakespearean festival in near-by Ashland, each year one group studies the four plays which are on the program for the following season. Mrs. Robert Wilcox (at left) is chairman of the unit which will meet the third Thursday of each month at 8 p.m. Mrs. Douglas Harshbargar (right) heads a unit especially for recent graduates; It will meet the fourth Monday at 8 p.m. t j
