Humphrey-Bern Ceremony
Held in Medford Church
Among August weddings
was that of Miss Lucille Rae
Bern, Coos Bay, and Walter
Eston Humphrey. The parents
of the bride are Mr. and Mrs.
Jean Henri Bern, Coos Bay.
Mr. Humphrey is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Humph
rey, 3482 Ross lane.
Dr. D. Kirkland West per
formed the ceremony at three
o'clock on the afternoon of
August 12 in First Presby
terian church here. Members
of the families attended,
White gladioli decorated
the altar for the double ring
rites.
The bride chose a floor
length gown of white net and
lace. Her waist length veil
was held by a seed pearl
crown, and she carried a
white Bible with white glad
ioli. Miss Esther Waters, Coos
Bay, was honor attendant,
and Miss Vicky Bern, sister
of the bride, and Miss Martha
Humphrey, sister of the bride
groom, were bridesmaids.
Miss Waters' gown was yel
low lalfcta with chiffon side
panels, and the bridesmaids'
gowns were of lavender taf
feta in the same style. The
honor attendant carried a bas
ket of lavender gladioli, and 1
the bridesmaids' baskets held
yellow gladioli.
John Flanagan served as
best man. Seating the guests
were John Humphrey, broth
er of the bridegroom, and Da
vid Johnson.
A small reception was held
following the ceremony at the
home of the bridegroom's par
ents. For the wedding and
reception Mrs. Bern wore a
light blue frock with white
accessories, with a pink glad
ioli corsage. Mrs. Humphrey
chose a beige dress with mel-
on colored accessories and
melon rose corsage.
The bride is a graduate of
North Bend High school, and
attended Southern Oregon
college.
The bridegroom was grad
uated from Medford High
school and Southern Oregon
college. He will teach math
ematics and science in Junior
and senior high schools In
Butte Falls this fall. The cou
ple will make their home in
the Cileason apartments in
Butte Falls.

August 12, in the home of the
bride's sister, Mrs. Edward C.
Root, The Three Pines, 3281
Jacksonville highway.
Dr. D. Kirkland West of
the First Presbyterian church
performed the 4:30 o'clock
ceremony which was attend
ed by a small group of rela
tives and friends. Baskets of
pink and white gladioli form
ed the setting for the wedding
ceremony.
The bride wore a pink or
ganza dress over pink taffe
ta, designed with a scoop
neckline and fitted bodice,
and bell shaped skirt. Her
feathered hat was in match
ing pink and her corsage was
a white orchid. The crystal
necklace and earrings which
she wore were loaned to her
by her daughter in law,
Mrs. John P. Dickson, Port
land; they had belonged to
Mr. Dickson

honor for her mother-in-law.
She wore an ivory colored
satin brocaded dress and her
hat was of white tulle. Her
corsage was of pink rosebuds.

The bride's gown of white
brocade was styled with a full
length bell skirt and elbow
length sleeves. Her bouquet
was of white carnations.
Mrs. Walter Graff III,
Stockton, Calif., was matron
of honor and the bridesmaids
were the Misses Carmen Val
entine and Kathy Austin, a
niece of the bride, and Miss
Rosemary While of Waits
burg, Wash.

church.
Announcement of the forth
coming wedding was made re
cently in Eugene when Mrs.
Hazel Archibald entertained a
group of friends in her home.
Mrs. Robert L. Rinker cut the
decorated cake served for re
freshments. The table was ar
ranged with pink flowers and
candles.
Guests included Mrs. Rcngl
scin's daughters, Mrs. Larry
O. Molluhan and Miss Hilda
Bengtson.
Mrs. Ilengtson and the
bridegroom-elect taught to
gether at the Woodrow Wil
son Junior High school,
Eugene, fur the past year.
Mrs. Bengstnn has taught at
the school for eight years in
fields of social living and
guidance and this year will be
at the North Eugene High
School in guidance and Eng
lish. Mr, Rehfeld, who taught
history at Wilson, will teach
world history and English at
South Eugene High school.
Before leaving for Eugene
Mrs. Bengtsnn lauglit in the
Medford public school system.

To Give Concert Today

musicians, singers and danc

the old Presbyterian church
across from the Plaza in Ash
land. Among the featured selec
tions will be Mozart's "Quin
tet for Strings," Hayden's
"String Quartet No. 19." and
the first movement of "Piano
Quintet'1 by Dahnanyl.
In addition to these num
bers, the singers and dancers
will perform. Miss Carol Hen
drick, Festival singer from
South Dakota, will present a
solo and then join the other
members of the Festival mad
rigal group in singing several
madrigal numbers similar to
those sung prior to each Fes
tival theatre performance.
The Festival dancers will
also perform, with the chore
ography under the direction
of Miss Anne Peterson.
The concert will start at
3:30 p.m. and a small charge
will be asked of those attend
ing, to help defray expenses.
