Although physical beauty is of importance in the Miss America pageant, talent and
personality are also major elements in the choice of winner. That Miss Wyatt
has a good measure of all three is proven by the fact that she was voted Miss
Congeniality by her fellow contestants in the Miss Oregon contest at Seaside.

Many years a dancer, Miss Wyatt limbers up in this
manner for practice at her home in Jacksonville.
At the Atlantic City contest she will perform an
interpretive jazz dance to "Love Walked In," which
she also did for the other two pageants. In prepara
tion for the contest the tall college student has
studied with a dance instructor in Seattle. Other
preparations for the eastern contest include selec
tion of a wardrobe in Portland and general pageant
orientation.

Martha Louise Wyatt, a charming brunette from Jacksonville, was named both Miss Rogue Valley
and Miss Oregon earlier this summer. Her always active life has become frantic since then, with
numerous public appearances and trips. As Miss Oregon, she will travel to Atlantic City, N. J.,
the first part of September to participate in the Miss America pageant.

Four children have grown up in the Floyd Wyatt home in Jacksonv.lle. including Miss Oregon for 1962, and the home has long been a center of
youthful activity. Neighborhood children are enthusiastic about Miss Wyatt and enjoy sharing her fun. Here group of children greets her as she
returns f'om a trip out. Miss Wyatt has wo-ked with ch.ldren in several projects, including the Young Life program. She hopes to go into social work
when she firihes her education at South?!;? Oregon college. I

At home in kitchen as anywhere else, Martha Wyatt often cooks. She has had recipe
collection since she was in high school, and eflen adds new ones from her mother' meals.
In addition to indoor hobbies, she enjoys hiking, skiing, and skindiving.
