partment of Defense, with

tary personnel nearly half
of the active Army.
The main body of troops ar
rived' by two troop trains
Sunday, July 22. I hey were
greeted by an advance party
which handled pre-camp ar
rangements so the division
could begin operating imme
diately upon arrival. Training
sites were completed and
classes i-ehcarsed Monday
and Tuesday.
Throughout the entire two
weeks of active duty, the
more than 3,000 division
members will also be organiz
ing and performing all the op
erations necessary to keep an
Army division operating
smoothly.
Prime mission of the 104th
is to be prepared, in event of
mobilization, to handle the
training of large numbers of
recruits.
