Travelers Visit
R. W. Gray Home
Houseguests last week of
Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gray,
Cherry lane, were Dr. and
Mrs. Byron McMahon and
daughter, Miu Helen McMa
hon, Sacramento, Calif. Dr,
McMahon is with the Califor
nia state department of agri
cultural education. The Grays
and McMahoni are friends of
long acquaintance and this
was their first visit in nearly
20 years.
Also recent guests of the
Medford family were Mr. and
Mrs. John Donk, C o h o e s,
N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. John
Tighe, Rochester, N.Y., who
were traveling as a group.
Mr. and Mrs. Donk are par
ents of the Gray's daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Robert Gray,
Portland. The Grays traveled
north with the group to Port
land where they remained for
four days while Mr. Gray was
in Portland on business.
Cummins' Guests
Hornbrook - Mr. and Mrs.
Leon Huddleston, Newton,
111., were guests last week at
the home of Mrs. Martha Cum
mins. They also visited other
members of the Cummins
family Including Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Cummins, Mr.
and Mrs. Loren Cummins, Mr.
and Mrs. Jess Cummins and
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cummins.
Party Held To
Tell Plans For
Spring Wedding
Announcement of the en
gagement of Miss Gloria Nicl
son to William Aker was
made by her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Niclson, 2130 East
Jackson street, at a party at
the Neilson home.
Mr, Aker is a son of John
Aker, Pittsburgh, Pa., and the
late Mrs. Aker.
About 40 guests attended
the engagement annoucement
party.
The bride-elect is a Med
ford High school graduate and
a graduate of Stephens col
lege, Columbia, Mo. She holds
a bachelor of arts degree from
San Jose State college and is
doing graduate work at the
present time at that college
During her college years Miss
Neilson also made a six and
one-half months tour of Euro
ope. Her fiance was an Interna
tion Buisness Machines in
structor with the Army in
Germany. He has attended
Michigan State university and
is to obtain his degree in crim
inology in February at San
Jose State college.
A spring wedding is plan
ned. The bride-elect left Wednes
day to enroll in the summer
session In her postgraduate
work after a month's visit
with her parents.
The bridegroom-elect also
visited here earlier thj year.

California Guests
Hornbrook - Recent guests
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Chadwick and chil
dren were Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Lind and sons of San Lean-
dro, Calif. After their visit
with the Chadwicks, the fam
ily drove to Scott river where
they planned a two week's
camping vacation.
Other guests at the Chad-
wick home recently were Mr.
and Mrs. Hank Fletcher and
son of Santa Rosa, Calif., who
were in this area visiting rel
atives of Mr. Fletcher in Yre
ka and down the Klamath river.

L. J. Cowie, Foots Creek, an
nounce the engagement of
their daughter, Miss Patricia
Dawn Cowie, to Basil Zervis,
son of Mr. and Mrs. James
Zervis, Portland.
Miss Cowie was graduated
from Crater High school in
1958 and Sacred Heart hospi
tal Shcool of Nursing in
Eugene in 1961. She is now
employed by Sacred Heart
hospital in Eugene.
Mr. Zervis is a graduate of
Washington High school and
Northwest Radio and Televi
sion school in Portland. He is
employed by KVAL-TV in
Eugene, and plans to attend
the University of Oregon in
September. He will obtain a
degree in mass communi
cations. No wedding date has beet
set.

honored Mrs. Orln Chastain.

Eagle Point Mrs. Hazel
Hildebrand, Eagle Point, be
came the bride of Clifford Ei
bcrt, South Gate, Calif., in a
ceremony Tuesday, July 17 in
Eureka, Calif.
The couple were married in
a small family ceremony in
the First Baptist church with
the Rev. Max Aiken of
ficiating. Mr. Elbert's son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James
Clarke, Eagle Point, attended
the couple.
Following the wedding the
bridal party attended a din
ner and a small party.
Also attending from Eagle
Point were Mr. Elbert's
granddaughters, the Misses
Jeannie and Judy Clarke
and Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Pulley and daughters, the
Misses Marsha and Darla
Pulley.
Mr. and Mrs. Elbert visited
with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don
ald Marquis in San Jose,
Calif., and continued along
the coastal route before re
turning to South Gate where
they will make their home.

Hornbrook - The home of
Mr. and Mrs. George Pettee on
the new Iron Gate lake was
the scene of a barbecue party
on Saturday honoring the
birthday of Mrs. Edward
Smith and Ernest Adams.
Other guests were Mr.
Smith and Mrs. Adams, Mr.
and Mrs. Lester Nye, and Mr.
and Mrs. A.A. Protsman and
their grandsons, Rex and
Glen Cozzalio of Sacramento,
who have been spending the
summer here.

Wed Couple
In Medford
Making their home at Glide
Ranger station, where the
bridegroom is employed, are
Mr. and Mrs. La Ray Arm-
strong, who were married
July 21 at the home of the
bridegroom's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. George J. Armstrong, 122
Janney lane. The bride is the
former Lila Kay Elsom, 86
Janney lane, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. A. F. Devere, Tuc
son, Ariz.
The Rev. William A. Sala-
din of the Phoenix Presbyter
ian church officiated. About
80 people attended the cere
mony, held at one o'clock in
the afternoon. Baskets of regal
lilies, gladioli, and daisies dec
orated the room.
Dr. Leland T. Piers on,
brother in - law of the bride,
gave her in marriage. She
wore a frock of pale yellow
lace over satin and carried a
bouquet of yellow rosebuds
and white carnations.
Mrs. Pierson attended her
sister. Her frock was green
polished cotton, and she car
ried a bouquet of white
daisies.
Bruce Matheny, Applegate,
was best man.
Peggy Sue Armstro ni,
daughter of the bridegroom
and Karen Elsom, daughter of
the bride, were flower girls.
Ringbearers were Danny Arm
strong, son of the bridegroom,
and Monty Elsom, son of the
bride. The flower girls wore
dresses of green polished cot
ton with white eyelet em
broidery trim. Their bouquets
were white daisies.
The reception which fol
lowed was given at the home.
The newly married couple
then traveled to Lake of the
Woods for their wedding trip.
The bride attended St,
Mary's High school, and was
employed as a dental assistant
lo ur. fierson. Mr. Armstrong
attended Medford High school
and Oregon State university.
He is a forestry engineer with
the U. S. Forest service, sta
tioned at Glide.
Out of town guests included
Mrs. Eva Armstrong, grand
mother of the bridegroom,
Dunsmuir, Calif.; Mr. and
Mrs. Irwin Hurley, aunt and
uncle of the bridegroom, Duns
muir; Mr. and Mrs. Francis
Fann, Grants Pass; and Mrs.
Gwen Pierson and children.

Return From
Nebraska Trip
Gold Hill Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph D. Morgan are living
at their home on Highway 99
north of Gold Hill following
a wedding trip to Wood Riv
er, Neb.
En route home the couple
spent some time at Yellow
stone National park. While in
Wood River they were guests
of his mother, Mrs. Katie
Morgan, and visited other
relatives and friends.
The bride is the former
June While of Gold Hill. The
wedding was held June 3.
The Rev. Harley A. Zeller, a
retired Methodist minister,
officiated at the double ring
ceremony performed at four
o'clock in the afternoon in the
home of Mr. Morgan's son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Morgan Jr., Kla
math Falls. Only close rela
tives and friends attended the
ceremony and a reception
which was held at Sari's
Italian restaurant in Klamath
Falls.
For her wedding and recep
tion Mrs. Morgan selected a
princess style floral print
dress with matching coat of
turquoise and blue on white
silk. Her accessories were
white and she wore a white
orchid corsage.
Miss Carolyn White. Gold
Hill, was maiU of hunor for
her mother. She wore a pink
sheath of cotton trimmed
with white lace and white
accessories. Joseph Morgan
Jr. served as best man for
his father. Also among the
guests was another son and
daughter-in-law of the bride
groom, Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Morgan.
A telephone message was
received from Mrs. Morgan's
son. Airman Second Class

tioned at Loring Air Force
base at Carabo. Maine.
The bride is a clerk at
Cogswell's market in Gold
Hill. The bridegroom is a me
chanic and school bus driver
for District 6 schools.

Visits Vallev

arrived Tuesday to visit for
about three weeks in the val
ley. She is dividing her time
with her grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. H. Niedermeyrr,
' Niedermcyer drive. Medford.
and Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Maust.

Miss Maust also is visiting
numerous other relatives in
the valley. Her parents art

of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barrows.

The bride is the foster
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Cooch of Roseburg
and formerly lived in the
Eagle Point area. Mr. Fowler
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Fowler, Chico, Calif.,
and is employed by the Crater
Plywood company of Rogue
Ri'er,
The bride wore a light blue
brocade dress with white ac
cessories and a white orchid
corsage. The bride's niece,
Mrs. Dale Bonebrake, Rose
burg, was matron of honor.
Mrs. Dech Stritzke, Roseburg,
the bridegroom's sister, was
bridesmatron.
Mr. Stritzke, Roseburg, was
best man and the' bride's
nephew. Dale Bonebrake, was
groomsman.
Ray Barrows escorted the
bride. The Rev. W. E. Atkin,
a retired minister of the Eagle
Point Seventh-day Adventist
church, officiated at the marriage.
The background for the
couple was a well with two
baskets of multicolored gladi
oli. Mrs. Donald Pulley and
Mrs. Ray Charters were in
charge of decorations with
flowers from Mrs. Mattie
Brown's garden.
Following the wedding a
reception was held at the Bar
rows' home attended by JO
guests. The wedding cake was
"Ut by Mrs. James Clarke and
coffee and tea served by Mrs
Don Pulley and Mrs. Ray
Charters. The Misses Patti
Bonebrake and Paula Fowler
assisted with the serving.
The couple traveled to San
Francisco, Los Angeles, Dis
neyland and Mexico on their
wedding trip. They are mak
ing their home at 1015 North
Sixth street, Grants Pass.

and daughter, Kathy, Rose

club, held this year at the j
C. H. Buffington home, on i
Campbell road.
The dinner, served from a
buffet, was held July 27 in the
gardens of the Buffington
home.
Doanld G. Root was in
charge of the event, assisted
by Robert Dickey and Dr.
Abner Clark.
Swedish Woman
Makes First
Visit To U.S.
Ashland Mrs. Eric Neils
son, Ornskoldsvik, Sweden,
left Ashand Friday morning
for Seattle, where she will
visit the World's Fair befora
leaving for her nativa
country.
Mrs. Neilsson has been a
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gunnar
Nashlund, 384 Helman street,
Ashland, and Mrs. Orval
Fleenor, 231 Gresham street,
Ashland. She is an aunt of
Mr. Nashlund, and a sister of
Mrs. Fleenor.
This was Mrs. Neilsson's
first trip to the United States.
She visited for two months,
and will return to Sweden by
air Tuesday.
