wrecking yard regulations and
county interim zoning rules.
"I plan to visit the wreck
ing yard next week. If it is
still in violation of the regula
tions, I will direct the sheriff's
deputy to issue a citation,"
Taylor said.
County Judge Karl M. Mil
ler said Friday he' had as
signed the wrecking yard
problem to Taylor three
weeks ago.
The county commissioner
was instructed to have a dep
uty warn the yard operator he
was still in violation and to
correct it in a few days or a
citation would be issued.
Under the law, the county
court could revoke the wreck
ing yard license putting the
operator out of business.

Jackson Assumes Job As
Domiciliary Director
While City C. T. Jackson
has assumed the directorship
of the White City Veterans
Administration Domiciliary.
He arrived here last week
from Clinton, Iowa, where he
was director of the Domicili
ary there.
Jackson was born in Au
gust, 18011, at Wrightsvllle,
Ga., attending high school In
Dublin, Ga., A&M college,
Powder Springs, Ga., and
Soule Business college, New
Orleans, La.
He served in the U.S. Army
during World War I, attain
ing the rank of lieutenant.
He has been in the civilian
federal service ior more than
42 years with the public
health service, i'le bureau of
war risk insurance, the Vet
erans bureau and uie vet
erans administration since its
inception.
Tours of duty have been in
the field of supervisory ad
ministrative official at VA
hospitals, central office in
Washington, D.C., VA branch
office, Seattle, the area medi
cal office, Fort Snelllng, St.
Paul, Minn., transferring to
White City and Medford from !
the VA Domiciliary at Clin
ton, Iowa, after more than
eight years as director there.

To Check Wrecking Yard for Compliance

cleaned up its premises since
the south Talent area interim
zoning ordinance was estab
lished Nov. 1, 1961, on peti
tion of a majority of the area
residents. The area citizens
had complained to the county
court about the unsightly
premises of the small busi
nesses fronting on Highway
99.
The wrecking yard operator
has repeatedly assured the
county court that he would
clean up his premises. How
ever, following a recent in
spection, Planning Technician

cover 310 of a mile of high

contained within a limited
area.
The wrecking yard operator
assured the county court he
would have cars removed
from Bear creek and placed
behind the fence and other
corrections made by Jan 1.
Later, winter weather con
ditions hampered the clean-up
work, it was explained, but
the owner said he would take
care of the wrecked cars as
soon as the ground drains off,
according to a county court
letter to the planning commission.
Civil Service Exams
Given for Firemen
The Medford civil service
commission conducted an ex
amination for firemen appli
cants at the Medford fire sta
tion Thursday.
Forty men applied and sev
eral others had made inquires
about the conditions of the
exam, according to the fire
department. A total of 14 ap
plicants completed and filed
forms for the test before the
deadline, and 10 appeared to
take the exam.
1 Final results will not be
known for about two weeks.
Only four men will be ap
pointed to the local fire department.
