On the Air
By ELEANOR WIESE
Major League greats of a
quarter century ago will don
their uniforms once again on
Saturday at Yankee Stadium
for the 16th annual Old Tim
ers' Day game, to be presented
as a special feature of the
Baseball Game of the week
on KBES-TV starting at 9 a.m.
American League heroes of
25 years ago will return to the
diamond wars in the three-
inning Old Timers' Game in
clude Joe DiMaggio, Hank
Greenberg, Bill Dickey, Lefty
Grove and Joe Cronin. The
managerial maneuvers will be
handled by Joe McCarthy, for
mer Yankee dugout boss.
The National League 1037
All Stars will include Johnny
Mize, Paul Waner, Ducky
Medwick, Ernie Lombard! and
Dick Bartell. Directing the
Nationals' attack will be Bill
Terry, onetime New York
Giant s star and manager.
Dizzy Dean will take a
break from broadcasting du
ties to pitch for the National
League. His fans hope, I'm
sure, that Dizz's pitching arm
is in better shape than his
singing voice.
