Two Medford High school students attended the second
I annual Junior Engineers' and Scientists' summer institute
held in late June on the Willamette university campus. The
young women, both from the Griffin Creek area, pictured
I above are (left) Martha Graham, daughter of Li. Col. and

Buena Vista drive. Both will be seniors this fall. The JESSI
session is held exclusively for girls interested in the sciences.
The meet was attended by about 167 girls from six states
selected on interest and grade points. The average grade point
i of all the 167 girls is 3.5-plus. The two-week session included
daily classes in such subjects as exploratory psychology,
zoology, mathematics, plant physiology, astronomy, chem
I istry, geochemistry and geophysics, physics, genetics, micro
biology, organic evolution, paleontology, physiology. Final
examinations were taken at the close of the session taught
by nine regular members of the Willamette university sci
ence and mathematics departments.

Mrs. Dorothy Sutter, Med
ford, has been named a mem
ber of the Girls' State com
mission of the Oregon Amer
ican Legion auxiliary.
The appointment was an
nounced last week by Mrs
Jack Larson, Springfield, de
partment president of the
auxiliary. Miss Nancy Kirk
patrick, Lebanon is chairman
of the commission which
stages Girls' State each year
to give high school girls of
Oregon an opportunity to
learn about government.
Mrs. Sutter will go to Port
land July 26 to be among the
group of auxiliary women
who will talk with Oregon
delegates to Girls' Nation be
fore they leave for Washing
ton, D. C.

ed from the stale convention,
held in Seaside. Also attend

The new member of the
Girls' State commission, a
Medford teacher, is a past
president of the Department
of Panama, a past secretary
and treasurer of the Depart
ment of Nebraska and has
served as department histori
an for Oregon. She was
chairman of the Oregon con
vention held In Medford in
1961.

Has Show
In Saratoga
A one-man show of oil paint
ings, watercolors and sculp
ture by Warren Wolf, 1517
South Ivy street, art Instruct
or at Medford High school, is
currently under way at The
Horse s Mouth Gallery, Third
and Big Basin Way, Saratoga,
Calif.
The show opened July 7
and was previously scheduled
to end July 29. The Gallery
owners have requested that
the show be extended until
mid-August due to the re
sponse.
Mr. and Mrs. Wolf and their
two children, Douglas and
Sara, were in Saratoga last
week end for a reception in
his honor. The show includes
21 oils, three watercolors and
three wood and steel sculp
tures. Mr. Wolf said that the
majority of the works being
exhibited have been in com
petitive exhibits, having been
shown at the Rogue Gallery
in Medford, Rochester, N.Y.;
Seattle, and Portland.
This is the first one-man
show of this size that Mr.
Wolf has had in the Bay area.
Saratoga, an art community,
is a town of approximately
1,000 population southwest of
San Jose and has seven art
and antique galleries.
While in the area the Wolf
family visited Mr. and Mrs.
C. A. Anderson, San Jose,
parents of Mrs. -Wolf. The pre
vious week end the family
visited Mr. Wolf's mother,
Mrs. Fred O. Wolf in Salem.
The Wolf family will move
from Medford July 20 to Fre
mont, Neb., where Mr. Wolf
will be head of the art depart
ment at Midland college. The
four-year liberal arts college
has an enrollemcnt of 750 stu
dents, Mr. Wolf said.

was held in late June at the
home of Mrs. Kenn Knack
stedt, 91 Renault avenue.

lem, Mrs. Charles Henry, and

New Church
Ashland From Hillsboro,
Ore., comes news of the mar
riage of Miss Marjorie Mae
Meihoff of that city to Charles
Gregg Lininger, Ashland,
which took place in Orenco,
Ore., Sunday, July 8. The
bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin Meihoff,
Hillsboro, and the parents of
the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Lininger, 240 Sky
crest drive, Ashland.
The Rev. Wilbur Sloat read
the double ring rites at 4:30
o'clock in the afternoon in the
Orenco Presbyterian church.
About 200 guests attended the
ceremony.
The church was decorated
with white and yellow daisies,
stock, and gladioli. White
bows and daisies marked the
pew ends.
Mr. Meihoff gave his daugh
ter in marriage. For the
ceremony she chose a floor
length gown with chapel
train, fashioned of silk organ.

Earl Lininger Jr., Ashland,
a brother of the bridegroom,
served as best man. Seating
the guests were Dr. Walter
Meihoff, Portland, a brother
of the bride; Jack Courtcman
che and Jack Altstock, Eu
gene, and Sidney Moody and
Don Headnck, Portland.
A reception, given by the
bride's parents, was held in
the church rooms following
the wedding.
For the wedding trip to San
Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and
Reno, Ncv., the bride chose
an aqua suit with self flower
at the neckline, and a white
feather hat.

be employed in the MertfnrH
school system, where she will
teach junior English at Med
ford High school In Septem
ber.
Mr. Lininger Is a graduate
of Ashland High school. He
attended the University of
Oregon, and was graduated
from Southern Oregon col
lege. He is employed by M.C.
Lininger and Sons, general
contractors.
The newlywed couple will
make their home at 801 Ash
