Willamette River
Portland-(UPN-An adventure
ous Salem family docked
here late Thursday after row
ing two rented rowboats 60
miles down the Willamette
river from Salem.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Rob
inson and their children -Janet,
12, David, 10, Jimmy,
8, and Christie, 7 - shared a
dozen blisters after the ven
ture. Missy, a spaniel, also
made the trip.
The family camped the
first night on a beach above
Newberg, the second at Cham
poeg State Park, and the third
near New Era south of Ore
gon City.
Mrs. Robinson said the cur
rent helped them the first
part of the trip, but then it
was just "row, row, row your
boat."
"It was a great adventure,"
said Robinson, a Public Utility
Commission employee, "but I
wouldn't want to do it again
in the next week or two."
