Eagles' Dick Wilson Selected
To Ail-American Honor Squad
Dick Wilson, Eagle Point
High school all-stater, has
been named to the Wigwam
Wisemen of America National
High School All-America bas
ketball honor squad.
He was one of eight Oregon
players so honored.
Of the eight, Rick Whelan,
Milwaukie, was picked on a
20-man all-America team at a
guard position. Other Ore-,
gonians are Dick Nicholas,
Princville; Dave Pritz, St.
Helens; John Franz, Eugene;
Howard Logsdon, Baker; Gary
Crabaugh, Marshfield; and
Jack Morrison, McMinnville. J
Wilson was a cog for the 1
most successful hoop team in
Eagle Point high history. He
was center for the Eagles who
won 16 straight games, earned
the No. 1 A-2 hoop rating in
the state, won the Rogue
league and District 6 cham
pionship and entered the state
tourney, compiling a 23-3 sea
son record under the helm of
Coach Dale Bates.
With 494 points and 278 re
bounds Wilson led the Eagles
in the scoring and rebounding
departments. He was named
to the A-2 all-state second j
team of the Oregon Journal j
and to the A-2 all-tournament !
second team. The Eagle re
ceived honorable mention in
the Portland Oregonian all
star poll.
In addition to his prowess
on the basketball court and
