hy shop, 23 North Fir st.,
Medford, Friday at 2:50 p.m..
causing a small amount of
damage. The fire extended to
a bench and stock on a shelf
before it was extinguished.

Car Fire - A desk clerk at
the Medford hotel summoned
firemen at 11:59 p.m. Friday
to investigate a car fire. D.

match thrown in the front
seat earlier in the evening,
firemen explained, but the
match smouldered while he
was away and burned a 10
inch hole in the back of the
seat. The desk clerk saw the
smoke.

Garaga Burned - Portions
of the back wall and roof of
a garage at 809 Newton st.,
Medford. were burned Satur
day while the owner, Henry
Ruch, was nut of town. Cause
of the fire was unknown.
Burned were an 8 by 10 foot
section of the back wall, lum
ber in the attic and an 8 by
12 foot section of the roof.
Stubborn Fire at
Local Fuel Yard
Medford firemen were sum
moned twice Friday after
noon and again on Saturday
to extinguish fires at an aban
doned fuel yard on East Mc
Andrews rd.
The first alarm came at
12:03 p.m. Friday when fire
broke out in sawdust at the
location, formerly occupied
by McGinty's Fuel yard.
Cause of the fire was unkown.
Firemen had just returned
to the station when a sec
ond fire was reported at 1:49
p.m. This one burned half
an acre of wood and sawdust.
Firemen remained at the scene
three hours.
Then at 2:50 p.m. Saturday
the fire flared up again in
four or five spots in the saw-i
dust.

for his 50 years of law practice. With him

Paul Anderson. 19, son of Mr.
and Mrs. O. Kenneth Andcr-
Central Point, died June 19
at Kentucky Baptist hospital
in Louisville.
Young Anderson was grad
uated from Waggoner High
school in 1960, and attended
the University of Louisville.
He was born in Alaska.
Survivors include his par
ents, a brother, Glen C. An
derson, and his grandmother,
Mrs. Anderson.

nent Medford lawyer, was
honored by other members
of the Jackson County Bar
association Friday for his
"first 50 years of outstanding
practice."
About 50 lawyers and their
wives, including Oregon Su
preme Court Chief Justice
and Mrs. William M. McAllis
ter, attended the banquet
honoring Roberts at the
Rogue Vally Country club.
Roberts started his law
practice in Medford in 1912
following his graduation from
the University of Indiana. He
has served as Jackson county
district attorney, president
and a member of the board
of directors of the Oregon
State Bar, and has been ac
tive in the Jackson County
Bar as well as many civic
activities.

firm Roberts, Kellington,
Branchfield and Hcffernan at
711 East Main st. Prior lo
moving into the present of
fices in. the Standard Insur
ance company building, Rob
erts and his associates were
located in the U.S. National
bank building at Main st. and
Central ave.
Chief Justice McAllister
presented Roberts with a
plaque on which was inscrib
ed: "To George M. Roberts in
grateful appreciation of your
first 50 years of outstanding
practice and leadership in the
Oregon Bar."
The plaque was presented
on behalf of the Jackson
County Bar association.
Among other guests at the
banquet were Justice and Mrs.
William C. Perry, Justice and
Mrs. Alfred T. Goodwin, and
